My daughter is currently vacationing in Singapore and sen me some photo of fig trees growing within a garden dome. The garden is called Gardens By the Bay. Thought I would share with my fig friends. Yes, I did ask her if she brought along a knife for cuttings :(. The first tree was labels as a common fig and the second tree as a socotran fig.

That second picture is an incredible, uniquely shaped fig tree! Hopefully she was able to try a few local figs.

Perhaps its better not to carry a knife in Singapore. Laws over there are harsh as carrying a knife can
be considered a conceal weapon. There are more fig varieties in USA than what is available there.

That socotran fig makes a beautiful bonsai. I think it's from socotra island off of Yemen.

Not advised to take cuttings as there are too many camera around. Even if trees by the road side with fruits.. it is not advisable to plick the fruit.. you will be fined when you leave the country or worst still... you could be jailed... becareful when in Singapore.

just ask the plant, horticulture, botanist person there for a cutting or two!! They will know what to do, good luck

Awe, come on guys, I was just kiddin about the knife.
