A very kind member who will remain nameless, they know who they are. gifted me several cuttings, 5 of which i recieved one cutting. this post is track rooting progress and sucess.  the 5 cuttings are.

Long yellow

each cutting was washed with a mild soap with a drop of bleach and allowed to dry. the cuttings then treated with a gel rooting agent was placed in baggies of well squeezed long fiber sphagnam moss. the baggies were place on top of the fridge for warmth.

this is day 1

I will post as to progress every week until all root or are declared dead.

Do you have artificial lights to keep them growing during the winter ?

It's fun to root cuttings when you only have one of each variety.  For me it makes it more dramatic/suspenseful and I really give each one the attention it deserves.  When I have 3 it's almost a foregone conclusion that 1 will survive even if I ignore them and totally mess it up.  More fun for me if there's a chance of failure.

Yeah every year I have figs under lights at one point I had close to 500 going at one,time. Got pics on one of my topics. Learned a lot about fungus gnats that winter too.

One cutting does make it more dramatic. But more depressing when one don't make it. But I guess maybe rest of ones method. Kinda like a game.

First weekly update.

All of the cuttings a showing promise. The jolly tiger in the pic already has a single root starting from the bitten.. I am doing this the baggie way with long fiber sphagnum moss. Cuttings were treated with rootech rooting gel.

I hope to have at least 2 cuttings of each variety this winter, and half of each kind will go into spaghnum long fiber moss. I had pretty good results with it last year and I prefer it to paper towels or straight perlite or water based methods. I hate my moss brick it is so friggin rock hard. I noticed they sell some fluffed out moss in bags at the garden store, so I will not be relegated to my moss brick this year. Good luck with it!

Ty, I like the long fiber sphagnum moss too. Never could get the baggy method to work until I started using it. Home depot is where I get mine, 4 bucks a bag. I bought the last few they had last time I was down that way.
