SIPS Buckets update

This is same idea as others, just my version of it. I wasn't happy with the flimsy plastic cup for the wick part. Used 3" PVC and cut lengths and slits with miter saw. Won't have to worry about colapsing, ever. Also, on the filling pipe, I cut a miter on the end eliminating one cut. Wanted to add the electric pvc conduit is exactly the same except cheaper in price. Both schedule 40 and also they put something in it to protect from uv rays.

PVC was an awesome idea Luke! I am buiding a few too (2 bucket self watering containers like Dominoc had built) and was contemplating ways to lift the top bucket higher to make the reservior deeper to hold more water. I am using 6 gallon buckets.

Originally I was going to hold the top bucket higher by zipping a few screws through the walls but I like the pc route better.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Vince, You say your using 6 gal. buckets. Where are you getting them? Are they used? And if so, what was in them? If I know, it will be easier for me to find in my area.

They contained wine must (grape juice) for wine making. The product brand is Mostobello. Check your local wine making shop or grape distribution point for spares. We put the juice in glass carboys so the buckets are always thrown out right away but I am a saver so I have get a dozen or so a year.
