Size determines time it takes to ripen?

All other things being equal does the size of a fig say Celeste get ripe quicker than say a Lemon fig or LSU Gold or other large fig

haven't really paid attn to how long it will take to ripen a fig. i just know it takes about 85 days or so.. or roughly 3 months. some figs will ripen in matter of days while others will take some time to get to that fully ripen stage. Paradiso Gene will suddenly turn fully ripen. on the other hand, White Greek will take forever to a point where it will be good to eat. i'll see what will happen to Genovese Nero this yr. i know White Greek will ripen from bottom up. what i mean is, the bottom near the eye will be fully ripen, but the top will still be little raw. if i wait too long, bottom will sour and top will be ripen. Genovese Nero from what i hear is a huge fig, but it's not as long as White Greek. Paradiso Gene is round fig and it ripen all over at the same time.

Do you mean from mature size to ripe or from bud to full size?

I think he means small fruit varieties versus large fruit varieties. If so, the answer is no - size is not the issue, but genetics. Some figs my be more vigorous and break dormancy quicker. Anything that gets the figs forming earlier (weather, genetics, etc.) means they ripen sooner. But some figs just naturally ripen later, and some earlier.

Thanks Jon that did answer the question. I had read a post that suggested the opposite and I just wanted clarification on it.

Ditto to what Jon says .
