Very good fig on a first year tree. Sweet, strawberry jam with no crunch. The skin was just a littlechewy but also a little sweet just the way I like it. Oh, and another very ugly fig on the outside. I give it an 8.5 already.
Mike: It is tasty. Thank you for sharing.Best,Tam
Is 2-27-12 when you planted it?
Next year:)
LOL....nice Mike, does it really taste like strawberry?
Tami, it did to me
Just ordered a dormant Smith, it will arrive next month, can't wait till spring! But yes, that skin does not look too appealing. Hopefully, one can peel away any unattractive bits of skin. Nice post!
LOL@Rafaelissimmo "peel away any unattractive bits of skin.
my smith cuttings died, so i will try next year. thanks for posting. that skin is not the best looking fig.
It doesn't have to be beautiful to be delicious though!
never judge a book by its cover
im just saying that skin looks ugly. isnt it okay to not like the skin color. but i wonder if the animals care? any thoughts on that.
Well they say beauty is only skin deep but I think you have proved that old saying wrong. Smith gets prettier the deeper you go.
No beauty contest winner here, but Smith is a good tasting fig, congrats
Beauty is skin deep, excellent flavor goes to the core
Well said Gloria.
