Sneaky fig

I check all my fig trees every morning b/c this is my first year to grow fig trees and b/c I'm very eager to do a good job of it.  This morning I was standing on the deck looking at them instead of on the ground in front of them and what do I see?  A beautiful 1/2 ripe fig on my KRMK dark that I got from a generous member of this forum (thanks Steve).  It is hiding under a big leaf on a lower branch so I had been missing it each time I looked.  It will be several more days, maybe a week, before it's ripe but I am SO EXCITED!  LOL.  I'll post pictures when it's ready.  =)

Way to go Jules...enjoy those figs.

You are hopelessly entangled, and now you are a "figopath" eaten up with "figuphoria"  of course in this group, it is hard to determine the "sane" ones.  Congrats on your discovery,  I had four KRMK Dark figs yesterday and I am a real fan of that fig.

please give us a taste report jules. gonna be fun.

yeah.. they do that, and they are the best ones.. specially if you totally missed it and find it after it's fully ripen.

Thanks, Vince.  Danny, Susie and Pete all I can say is, "I know, right??"...LOL.  I go to bed thinking about figs, I wake up thinking about figs, I go out and look at my trees and my "startings" two or three times a day....I'm hopeless...lmbo.  Next year should really be fun b/c most will be big enough to produce more than 1 or 2 figs each.  I'll be in fig heaven...  =)

LOL Jules , I know exactly how you feel !! Keep us posted !

One of the fine things on this forum are seeing others pictures.
Look forward to them.
Thanks.

Well, I couldn't wait any longer to taste that fig...lol.  It probably could have used 1 more day on the tree but it was still good.  It had a little bit of a tart flavor to it.  It wasn't extremely juicy but it wasn't dry by any means.  I had commented on another thread that I had to disown all 4 of my daughters b/c they don't like figs but I must retract that statement.  3 are disowned and now are "their father's children" and I is still mine.  I shared this fig with her.  She said it was VERY good.  =)  I do believe it goes in the "keeper" category.  Here are a few pictures.

I'm glad you got it before the varmints! Next time bag it in organza. Congrats!

Yeah, I'm having a tough time with squirrels and grasshoppers.  The squirrels are digging all the soil out of my pots and the grasshoppers are eating up all the leaves...ugh.  So far, no trouble with birds.  Sophie, I did.  I just happen to have 1 bag laying around and I used it but I just got so anxious to taste it, I picked it a day early....lol.

Just picked and ate the last of my figs off the KRMK Dark, no picts.  I was surprised that it ripened.

Thanks Steve

I currently have 6 on the Strawberry Verte, 4 of which should be ripe by the end of the week and 2 on the Black Jack that will be ripe by end of the week.....I hope.  They will probably be my last figs for the season.

Your worse than I am, Jules.    You should mail me one of those Strawberry Verte's in a plastic easter egg.. lol  j/k

James, you're too funny....lol.
