Snow Coming Your Way

My figs are fast asleep in garage, some small new ones in house are awoke .

Guess were going to get some snow.

Big system will come roaring thru tomorrow.
It may come your way afterwards.  ; )

Blizzard Warnings out now for Chicago .

Usually what they call snowstorm has been in the new generation small amounts of snow .

I remember back in "67" Jan on my birthday 23 inches.
Some forcast are saying this one could be pretty nasty also .

Snowblower was gassed up today and extra gas mix standing by if we get the 2 to 3 inch per hour some are saying i will be busy tomorrow.

That move to Florida looks better and better all the time for the future.

C'mon spring !

Martin ,
Sounds like it could be a big snow storm here in NH as well.

Have you picked out your area of Florida yet ?
Best,
Kerry

If by snow you mean flat green things emerging from the ends of branches on fig trees, yes, we have quite a bit of that.

Kerry not yet.
Jon i always did like your sense of humor !

Hmm speaking of sense of humor and it is not my humor, did you noticed the newest
member called encantofarms ?
I noticed the name early this morning.

@Martin, I noticed that.  Profile is here:

http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/profile/1632315

Name listed as "Joe Hex" and all other fields are marked as 'Test', which is very common with registration bots (software that mass-creates accounts on forums, normally for spamming advertisement posts on forums).

I can't think of any legitimate reason for someone to create an account (other than Jon) named 'encantofarms'.

I was wondering why someone would create that name Jason you hit the nail on the head i believe.
One can see members list also by hitting search function and scrolling down to " members list".
Then click the name for more info if your signed in to account.

Tomorrow
We will get minimum of 12 inches of snow but all computer models are saying 1 foot up to 2 feet, but darn it most will come when im asleep and snow blower will laugh at it.
I suppose i will get some much needed excercise the ole fashion way useing a shovel come morning.

I guess the winds are in the right directions for us this time !!
Probably we shall be resting this one time...

I miss California weather...:(((( Martin same here in Milwaukee Wisconsin...snow start this morning...:(((

Martin looks like the storm is heading are way here in Michigan.Jon I'm gonna help Rafed fill up his trailer with snow then he'll deliver it straight to your house and he will fill your beautiful landscaping with it lol. We'll make sure that the snow don't melt before it gets to Cali.I'm sure Rafed we'll do a great job decorating your trees with the snow.Enjoy and God Bless.
Robert

Martin and Jason,

Seems Jons been a bit bored down there in San Diego. I have a good feeling he has something to do with this Joe Hex thing.

Robert,

You're too late. I'm in Iowa on my way to San Diego. I weighed every option I had to beat this storm but I think I'm taking it from the top.

I drove in it so far for about 150 miles and I figure tomorrow I will have about 300 to 400 mile of this stuff and then it should clear up for me.

By the time I get about half way through Nebraska it's supposed to be clear.
I HOPE!

I was going to take the long way but I rather driver over snow than ice.

Ah the beauty of being a weather person-You never have to be exactly right!

In 5 hours time it has gone from 6-12" to 9 to 18" for most of MA and those north are getting 12-20".

I usually enjoy winter very much, but I'M DONE!

Florida is looking better and better after each new snow maker!

Y'all out there in snow country be safe! We hear a doosey of a storm is coming towards you over the next few days.

Sue

Ice ice and more ice now in this part of Penna, also, many power outages forcasted. Tonight supposed to be the worst part. This is terrible, very unsafe driving, hope noone has to travel the east seaboard today.especially in the North.

Icy roads here in Albuquerque, as we've been getting snow off and on since last night.

Although we commonly get low temperatures in single digits, it's supposed to drop below zero here this week.
[update: 1F tonight, -5◦ F. tomorrow night]

Glad we had some warning, which enabled me to collect two wheelbarrow loads of dry firewood and put it inside a covered patio before the snow began falling.

OH NO
It is coming this way too. Tool bad. It was supposed to bypass us.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FOR OTTAWA

I started off in Brooklyn, Iowa and all the way through to Kearney, Nebraska ( approx. 400 miles apart ) I was going not more than 50 MPH.

It was icey, dicey, windy and blowing snow to where you couldn't see two feet in front of you.

I-80 was a junk yard in some places

To make matters worse my load only weighs 9000 lbs. You can say I am empty, Nothing holdong me down.

The strain that goes with it too. My neck and shoulders were in pain.

Glad I got out of it.
HAMMER DOWN!

Forecast looks promising for the rest of the way to San Diego.

I'm here in Brush, Co. About 90 Northeast of Denver. ( corrected )
It will be -10F ( minus ten F ) tonight.

Stay safe Rafed. Enjoy San Diego and have a Karl Strauss beer for us.

Lovely weather here in Chicago :)

Rafed,

Not sure when you will be entering San Diego but tonight thru Thurs we have a severe high wind advisory out: higher mountains can expect wind gusts up to 85 MPH! Lower mountains around 60 MHP gusts. Winds will ave 20-35 MPH in the county. You think an empty truck on the ice is bad, try a battering ram!

http://forecast.weather.gov/wwamap/wwatxtget.php?cwa=sgx&wwa=high%20wind%20warning

MOTORISTS WITH HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES WILL BE PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE STRONG WINDS...that's YOU! Stay Safe!

Sue

All of you stay safe and warm.  God bless and keep every one of you and yours.

It's nothing compared to where you others are, but we're supposed to get temps in the 20s, with a WCF into the teens, overnight.  That's quite low for here.  It will have gone from 63 to 27 and then will go back up to 44 and then down to 29.  The temps bounce all over the place when it gets cold here and that can blow fig trees up if it's been warm enough to run the sap.

Mike and I put sheets over the young, potted trees out front late this afternoon.  I grouped them in two groups and we put one sheet over each end of the groups, that meet in the middle and then put a third sheet over the tops of them.  We use clothespins to pin the sheets to the trees, stakes and pots so they won't blow off because the wind is pretty strong.

Does this mean my fig trees are "three sheets to the wind?"

(That was awful!!!)

Vivian, what a sense of humor! tickled me. Only rain here, no snow, no Ice all rain, but now the WINDS are going to roll in !

We are in the process of getting 1/2"+ of freezing rain (aka., solid ICE).

Trees branches are [beautiful -like a Xmas card, but] top heavy with ice,
and with some strong winds in forecast, more damage/hazard is on the way.

We had plenty of snow before, one should see the BIG piles of snow
both on my property and in the streets! Hope none more comes
in the near future - else NO place to put it! - less some of the old-crap melts.

For the first time I have ever seen, a winter day  is actually colder [low and high temperatures] here in Albuquerque NM than it is at my brother's home in Fairbanks, Alaska.

As of this morning it was still snowing but not nearly as hard as last night, news said Chicago recieved 19.5 and would get a few more inches then it stops. Wont break my favorite record that occured on my birthday in 1967.
LSD was closed down for first time in many years and I-80 by me was closed for stretch of 60 miles.
Winds topped of at 70 miles per hour last night they were making some noise !
While watching TV last night the whole sky lit up and then nice clap of thunder. Funny thing i kept bugging the Misses as we watched TV.
Sort of went like this
"Hey Babe i cant see the neighbors house accross the street"
"Hey Babe i hear a snow plow but only see a faint yellow light flashing"
"Hey Babe i dont see the glow across the street they must have turned off the porch light"

She finally said " Hun just pull up a chair to the window and enjoy it and let me watch TV"

What a Gal still after all these years married she still has a sense of humor, you should see her shake her head when i talk about figs !

Anyways out taken care of the snow and the big fig plants got a drink at the end of garage in there pots of snow and it was not my doing but the wind which has now subsided.
So tonight is the big deal eh?

Figgerluvah,

Good catch!
Typo, Wasn't thinking when I wrote northwest. Had a rough day.
Let's just say off I-76 @ exit 90 ( Northeast ), That should be a little better.

Sue, Thanks for the warning about the wind.
