Snow Storm are ya freakin kidding me.

Stay warm and safe!
We aren't expecting any more snow this season. We only got a dusting once, at night, and it was gone by 8am :P

Yeah, Snow!!!  I'm here in the path of this storm too, and I'm loving it!  We've had such a crazy WARM January, I'm hoping this batch of snow stays for at least the rest of the month of February!

Mike   central NY state, zone 5

p.s.  Sorry Tony... I don't really mean to be unsympathetic, but this is snow country.  Might as well learn to love it if you're going to live in its path.  Though I know, it's different in the city from out here in the hills.

Mike I don't mind the snow so much when I'm home but I work in it outdoors on the front of a drill rig it doesn't matter what's going on outside I'm in it all year and it sucks.

PS mike this is what I do at work that's me taking the video on the front of the drill rig that's a record breaking 270ft hole there 15ft sections of 9inch outer casing and 15ft 5inch inner rod that I have to sling up and install on the front of the rig with the upper winch at the top of the rig and the driller rotating screwing them together just like when you see people drilling for oil its the same thing just no oil we actually use all there leftover pipe and down hole hammers etc thats why I hate winters its so much fun when im cracking the ice off of my face and the casing because the straps slip and could kill me.

PS pause the video at 7 secs and look at the fig tree growing out of the crack between the brick wall and the blacktop on the bottom right of the video I had mentioned this and one other tree in another post on this sight I didn't realize I had it on video.

ENJOY!!!

Yep, I can see why you wouldn't like lots of snow, if you spend your days doing that kind of work!

Mike

Here is the other tree on the same sight it looks like a brunswick but the fingers are really long so I dunno and I never got any cuttings.

Yes, there is a lot of snow up north. But the worry-some part of it is the announcement by the City Hall that the city snow removal budget has already been exhausted and it is projected that there will be a property tax surcharge. That may cut into hobby expenses.

Isn't it a new budget every year ??? how the hell are we over budget already %$#^@$#% I hate the man.

Been MIA with a bad cold, and meeting with contractors in a really cold house (heater not working).  So I feel for you guys.

It NEVER snows in Southern California, but yesterday it did!  It didn't stick, but it sure was pretty quietly coming down.  Huge flakes.

Something is weird.  Whatever is bringing drought to the midwest is also bringing weird weather elsewhere.

I hope you, your families and figs are safe!

Looks like our friends in New England took a pretty good pounding from this one.  Some places got a record-setting snowfall, but only a few.  For most places, it's just another notable Atlantic blizzard.  Maybe quite a bit more hyped in the "Entertainment-News" industry than most though.

<< edit -- P.S.  Don't take my remark as any indicator that I don't think climate change is real.  I do think it is real.  It's just that I think other evidence is much more compelling than any couple-of-years worth of unusual storms.  More extreme variations (unusual patterns) is consistent with the models for climate change, but broader measures are more compelling than any specific decade's worth of storms. >>

4 1/2 hours and a snowblower and a shovel I'm all cleaned up I ran snowblower and my hunnie followed behind with shovel .
Both driveways and the whole corner is done I also went up and down my whole block two passes to help out the neighbors .

IM DONE!!!

Spring was in Houston last week.  Saw two yards with daffodils blooming.

Rub it in rub it in.....

I plowed today, but not snow.  I finally got the chisel plow on the back of the tractor and worked the field.  I planted several pomegranate trees, as well.  The in ground and containerized pomegranates have leafed out.  The Asian Pears, stone fruits and containerized fig trees have bud swelling.  I'm going to try to get 15 fig trees planted tomorrow and Monday.  It is spring in Central Texas.

I wanted to meet snow so badly when I arrived in this country.. now I like to see in pictures ONLY.  I feel bad for people who are burried in that much snow. that is awful.

2 1/2 feet of snow here but like bass said it insulates the figs from the 10 degree weather that is due tomorrow

I feel for you out in suffolk Ed my uncles out in melville and he got hammered still buried they had to call someone to come clean them up and my other friend is out at 62 and my other uncle at 64 there all buried in still but yes its a good insulator when I get ice on my pants while working on the rig it stops the wind from getting to the skin on my legs but its still cold but believe it or not it helps.

Pretty cool video, thanks.
I need a well dug in Staten Island,
got fig cuttings to trade  ;-)

Really do need a well,
you service this area ?

We got a foot of snow on Staten Island,
no big deal, most roads were cleared right away.
After the major beating we took from Sandy,
this didn't help, but was not a problem for this area.
North and East is another story.

Lots of drying wind this year,
outdoor unprotected fig trees are going to see some dieback.

Not wells HJ mini piles for construction that hole was so deep because there was no bedrock

Had no sound when I watched the vid,
not sure if you had mentioned that.

I like the rig, can get into tight places.

I feel for all of you in the north east. Last year my DH and I came back to Long Island from FL a month too soon and got hit with a snow storm on the way back ! This year awaiting the birth of our 5th grandchild - we'll be in FL longer. Gotta tell ya - we don't miss the snow and cold ! I really thought I would , but no.
Be safe shoveling , please !
