so.. rooting for caprifig begins.

thanks to a generous forum member, caprifig rooting has begun. i'm not sure what to do with ones with mamme already on, so i just stuck them into the pot along with my 10 gal trees. i had to root prune my 10 gal this yr, and that section of the pot has no roots from old tree. i'm hoping a lot.

there was a cutting that had all the mamme dropped during the shipping, so that one has gone into baggie with paper towel for normal rooting in hope that i'll have a caprifig tree going by next yr.

i'll probably has to ask for another branch with mamme next yr to populate the tree, unless i get really lucky and the 3 cuttings i made will root, and by some luck wasp will survive till the fall and take resident in possible mamme on the new caprifigs.. lol lot of wishful thinking in this post.

I wish you good luck. I would love to try something like this but I'm sure it's a lost cause in Denver.

Pete , do you have any Smyrna type or San Pedro type figs in your collection? I am wondering why you would want a Capri in your collection.
In any case, good luck, I started my own series of Capris ...

I started two cutting too just in case the wasp is not near my place.

If the wasp will not come over ill caprify some figs manually this summer.

i have one san pedro. but it's not for them. the common fig which gets pollinated will give better taste. also, the seed will be fertilized for possible seedlings.
