So these two unknown figs are waiting for the subway....updated: help me identify with photos

Just picked up my 2 (unknown)Flatbush dark figs. Just thought it was a cool shot...2 fig trees sitting on an underground NYC Subway bench. The better picture would have been the people staring at me wondering what the heck I was doing carrying these things home

Edit: Just got home and posted photos of the leaves. Looking for some opinions as to what it is, its a unique leaf

Call them " NYC Subway Fig".. haha

As soon as I saw that shot, I just knew it had to be the subways of NYC.  Too bad you can't capture that special "aroma".

Yes, New York, New York...it's a hell of a town.....

Nice photo.

Frank

Hey folks...see the arm rests on the benches?  They are there to prevent all the filthy junkies and winos from using these benches as a permanent bed.  Yes, a hell of a town.

Yes that special aroma in the subway.
Here in Chicago we have system but smaller than New York .
Im very familiar as i flagged in subway , drove trains in subway etc etc.

ATU - still a member albeit retired.

Cool picture. :)

The leaves on the "Flatbush Dark" are pretty unique. The middle lobe has a "cut" on the right side. Will post pictures of the leaves when I get home.

'Flatbush' or 'Flatbush, NY' sounds like a good name for a cold hardy fig in New York.

So here are the leaves. They are pretty unique imho.  look at the top lobe.  the dominent leaf has another lobe trying to form on only one side on the top lobe.  Any guesses?  Its a dark colored fig but the leaf is unique enough im thinking you wont need to see a fig to identify.

Those are cool leaves Tim, but I won't hazzard a guess, not very good about id by leaves. Maybe others can help

Last Time I Guessed I was wrong, the fig got ripe later and it was Brown instead of white.
So,I wait to see fruits and coin and leaves in August when they take their final shape.

Herman,

My guess is no fruit this year. I don't see any embryos yet and I'm zone 6a. Have you seen a leaf like this before?

Here is a picture of the fruit. The two on the left are Flatbush Dark.  Any clarity when considered with the leaves?

Those are Monrovia pots. so it must be one of these. I am wondering if it could be a Brown Turkey or Kadota as they are the more common varieties I have seen for sale in Monrovia pots in NYC

Thanks for the response, but it's not a Monrovia. Its just in a surplus Monrovia pot
