so we have little dusting last night..

i don't think it was even an inch. they were calling for 2-4". so they delay the school opening, all the supermarkets are emptied out.. this morning i got a call from the kids' school that the school bus had little "incident" and was told to either wait for the back up bus or drive the kids to school. just love NC when it snows.. even if it's not really "snow".

weather men for ya, only job you can be wrong 99% of the time and still have a job. a few years back they called for a light dusting and we got almost 2 foot. guess work at its finest. not to mention as soon as the first snow flake falles everybody drives like idiots.

wait a min. snow in NC is that normal. i was stationed there at Brag but not for very long until i was redeployed to southamerica.

I laugh at snow here, too, Pete. I'm originally from NE Ohio, where we got Buffalo-style snow every year. It was measured in feet, not inches. But here in NC, a wisp of frost sends everyone scrambling like the apocalypse has arrived. I guess when you don't stock up on salt and snowplows, it kind of is. I threw out our snow shovel four years ago. Haven't needed it. The only time it really snowed, we just became shut-ins like everyone else, feasting on French toast (because everyone buys out the stores of milk, bread and eggs).

Its the same here. They built this "snow" event in to the coming of the end of the earth. Then, we didn't get a flake in the Atlanta area. From what I
heard it came as close as 65 miles to the west of Atlanta and a dusting in the N Ga mountains.

You have proof - winter is here!

Pete, I heard from my friend there in Durham and she told me earlier about the light snow.  She homeschools so she avoided the bus drama. ;)

We got about 5" yesterday.  Sunshine and 41 degrees today.  Main roads are dry now.

We were suppose to get a snow storm directly over Beckley (5 miles away)
Starting in the middle of the night Tuesday night through all day yesterday, and expecting up to 12"
All kinds of storm warnings!, my neighbors all freaked out!
flying around in preperation! Accidents everywhere!
The stores were swamped with buyers,
After all that hoopla!
We got all of 3/4" of snow, the storm ended up dropping all the snow south of us by 60 miles.
Big whoop! But, glad we dodged the bullet!
A sunny 35F today, and going down to 0F tonight!

i don't mind it so much now days.. back when i first came to NC i was like "what's wrong with these people?". the worst thing is the traffic accidents. not so much the accidents themselves, but the onlooker traffic. it's crazy.

Pete, I am relieved. I thought this might be a thread about the infrequency and paucity of your house cleaning attempts.

Jon,

As matter of fact, I never dust or make sudden move in the room where I root cuttings. God know what evil I might awake. :)

@Pete
Are you kidding me? That's what you call "dusting"-lmfao. Hush. It's "fah fah freezing in Idaho". Pretty but PAINFULLY EXCRUCIATING. Here is what dusting looks like. Powder....

Edit: I'm at work (Ste Chapelle) goofing off- Production is on holiday, crush is done, slow day.

all smiles,
Jennifer

The morning commute sure was nice though. Even thought it didn't fall below freezing (low of 31) until about 6 A.M. and the ground is still warm enough to sow tomatoes from the 60's and 70's last week, the news reports of "black ice" kept most people off the roads until well after sunrise. Wish the news would hype non-existant black ice more often.

here in Charlotte, we did get snow. the problem is it rained for 6 hours first, then it snowed, temps dropped then everything froze. my truck was froze to the driveway! took a while to get the door open. Almost wiped out driving on black ice this AM.
