Soap water mixture burn

Hi all,

Recommendations needed.

I had a few issues with bugs snacking on the leaves of a few of my potted fig tree. I decided to eliminate the critters with dawn + water solution ( 3tbsp - 1 gallon). I applied last night around 8pm... Most of my figs get full sun until 1pm. So the the figs had been in the shade for a while.
I woke this morning with quite a few leaves that turned a brownish color - like the leaves tarnished.
A few of my figs look unaffected. Regardless, I put all in full shade and washed them with fresh water.

Any suggestions or advise?

Thanks Matt

I'll post pics later

I think way too much soap. It created a film that may have smoothered the leaves. Wasn't from the sun because you put it on at night and sun hasn't hit it yet. Cut way back on soap. They have a neem oil that you use very lightly mixed with a bit of dawn

I thought I would try the soap - water mixture first over neem oil - thought it would be safer with all the hot weather we've had.

Other than the high possibility of leaf damage and losing a bunch of leaves, would the fig bounce back with new growth?

Oh yes it would. Just about a month ago. I mixed up neem oil way to strong and burnt lots of leaves. They were terrible looking. They all look great now. I hae never burnt my leaves before but i mixed it really strong. They next morning they were crispy. I usally follow directions. ;-) lessons learned.

Ok, let me confess. Last year I was handed a great deal of rust on my leaves. These were in an overhead watering shaded hoophouse. I bought some concentrated leaf disease spray and didn't read the directions doh! Well I added to much as I painted all my trees white. I thought it would wash off, nope lol. Let's just say it looked awful..lesson learned
