Soft, felty leaves

So, as my 90-100 trees go into dormancy this month, I made an observation about my unknown "Morley" tree while 'helping' shed leaves. In feeling it, both the top and bottom of the leaves feel soft and fuzzy just like a nice velour cloth. I have no other tree in my collection which has this trait. I didn't notice it until the leaves yellowed.

Has anyone ever experienced this with other trees? If yes, which?

Sounds neat.

You can call it your Velvet Fig.

Jason,

My trees are dormant now but I did/do check the texture of all my varietals. I did not appreciate a difference other than smooth. A texture similar to Celeste and San Piero.

Jason,

Now that I think about it, I have one fig that has a " Puffy " feel to the leaves.

The leaf texture feels raised, and " Poofy " if that makes sense.

The Fig: A Schwarz Rovoh- Feige , also has the darkest green figs I have ever seen.

Very Odd.

Looks tasty, nick.

I should clarify (I'll go back and edit):  I have several figs with soft/fuzzy undersides, but Unknown Morley is soft/fuzzy on the bottom *AND* top of the leaf, which is what's weird to me.
