some cuttings not callusing or rooting.

some cuttings are not callusing or rooting. but the cutting is good. i just gave them a cut on the bottom. removed the wood up to the next node. i'm thinking clean cut will do something. the BG cutting, now only having 2 nodes, seems to be responding to it better. before removing the previous bottom node, the cut area will soak up water and looked like it will lead to rot. now the surface is drying up nicely as if it will lead to callus.

the other set of cuttings are different cuttings. it's the slowest cuttings this season so far. then again, i'm only rooting something like 10 varieties. it was in the bag for over 4 weeks, but no callus or root anywhere. not sure why, and i'm not putting them into cup until i see something. so gave them a cut. will see what happens.

I love experiments.  I hope you're on to something good to know..

Hi bullet08,
Well just my two cents of the day :
Check your temp !

it's not the temp, and it's not the moisture level. the set up is same as it has been for last 4 yrs. already over 50 cuttings have rooted in that locations in baggies. the temp is constant 80 degree F at that spot. moisture level is just right so there is no mold or rot going on. it's just not callusing. i know it should. usually i put cuttings into cup after 4 weeks of no sign of anything, but this cuttings are something i want to see rooted so i'm waiting for something to tell me it's time, but nothing is happening. after cutting the bottom end off yesterday, i scratched the bark and there is nice green layer underneath, so the cutting isn't dead.

this morning, i took a look at the cuttings and they seem to be hardening on the bottom. hopefully it will callus now.
