Some Damned Beast Stole My...

... air-layer.

Last night I set five air-layers on my Fico Santo in the field.  One was on a short branch.  I layered it from where the branch came off the trunk to the growing tip.  This morning I went to take a pic (I was rather proud of it) and it was gone.  The entire layer, plastic, tape, 1/2 the branch... gone.  In the past (especially in Houston) I have had the plastic bags around my layers torn into by squirrels, but never an entire layer taken away.

I thought I might take a pic of it anyway, but they really didn't leave much for the photo.

It wasn't me!!! ;)

Not me

It's always the guilty ones who profess their innocence first.

I hope it wasn't the airlayer you had planned to send to me!

Was this a two or four legged beast that pilfered your layer? I'm sorry to hear it at any rate. It is so frustrating sometimes. Makes me want a beast proof greenhouse that covers my whole back yard.

Tami, I would put my bet on a four legged one. I'm not sure which one.

Harvey, if you are looking for F. Santo, then this might have been the one.

I've never heard of a whole airlayer gone missing, wow that's a mean critter

James,

For the record and I have alibis to prove it but it was not me.
You see, I am no longer over the road and have not been near Houston in almost a year.

Rafed, I would have forgiven you... The other beast won't be so lucky.

James, I'm looking for anything really nice.  I'm not familiar with the fig but it's got a very nice name.

Harvey

Here's one with a fancy name,
Marroi Indioilar

It was an accident!

James when you posted my first thought Rafed  - he eats anything !
Course you can rule me out as thats a paleface fig , and if not a paleface type i would not have taken the airlayer but the whole plant.

Dang critters!

Maybe Martin thought it was a dark fig when he saw it at night.

What are you feeding your tree rats?

Yea, and some damned beast (I'm thinking other really, really bad words right now) stole my Salce fig.  I was leaving it on the tree to start dripping honey from the eye like Mario suggested.  Last seen last night, this afternoon gone, no trace.  I'm moving pots out of the way, looking feet from the tree in the grass, smelling my dogs breath for fig, nada.  @#%*!!!

It wasn't me!  But had I known that was sitting in your yard for the taking...

Poor Steve.  Glad the doggie wasn't the culprit.  I had the same thing happen but at least mine was only a Peter's Honey and it was still far, far from being ripe so it didn't upset me so bad.
