Nice figs!!!

The Adasi or edeisi is one of the best figs i believe. it has a deep flavour that i havnt tasted in alot of figs.
the one in the photo is not ripe and i didnt take cuttings because i didnt like it but after i tasted a ripe version i took about 15 cuttings...
more info in this pdf:

Eli,

Nice figs ! Congratulations!
What variety is the black one with reddish neck ? I am sure some of these must be real jewels ! and you have to tell us a bit more...

What are the best for your palate ?

Francisco

Thanks
Most of the figs are underwatered and rely only on rain period which is very short , but they are planted in the below of a mountain so they will not get totaly dry.
their taste is very intense : every fig is like a different wine. probably the intense heat from the sun is reflected back to the trees from the stony terrain and "cooks" the bottoms of the tree as the top.

there are 3 black ones with red necks:

Adriatic haruvi- small one - red inside and the taste is very deep-i realy dont know why its calles adriatic?

Migdal Haemek- that one is like pure wine very heavy.

MAT1- i dont know the origin. the taste isnot so good actually, but: when going back to taste some other varieites i tasted a "dry" version and than i unerstood that this fig is good for drying and has a very deep tone and smell.

I wish i could give out more info so ill make a video of them this summer.

Very nice fig display, thank you! They look like home there growing for centuries :)

You mentioned share, have you shipped to the US? What was your experience?

I dont like to talk about shipping internationally publicly...
but i visit the us somtimes and can bring some varieites..

elin, we have no local figs anywhere!  I have driven down many roads since we moved here.  No fig trees!  None!!  You are lucky.  None of my neighbors have figs.  They give me that "you are crazy" look when I ask.  I am the queen of figs on this mountain for sure!

I make offers, but no takers.  Weird, but it is what it is.

Suzi

אני לא לדבר בעברית, מצטער. תודה לך על התשובה המהירה שלך!

Suzi even here there are not alot of people who are into this.
they buy figs in the market and thats it..

Here is a video about local Fig lovers looking for that special one of a kind fig.
its in hebrew so sorry.

In the video Danny yakir which is described in figsofisrael pdf is shown.

he says when he started  he got bitten with the hobby and made the biggest fig collection in the mideterenean.

in the video they are touring one of a kind tree-the best here.
the first fig they find is not good and danny says that the best fig should be purple so they continue looking for the best fig.
than the guy says that loving a fig means caring for the tree and the soil.

after few hours o searching they found the best one but they dont want to disclose the location ( even i dont know)...  I think its KADITA (not kadota ) PURPLE

Enjoy all.

Amazing!  I loved it!  Rock on!
Suzi

Eli,
Are any of these delicious looking figs cold hardy?

would love some of those cuttings, but uncle sam keeps saying no until all the proper papers are signed and lamb and chicken has been offered along with some other voodoo stuff like lawyers and things.

Suzi, I am surprised there are no figs in your neighborhood. Are you in central Ca? South Ca?

So CA.  I have driven every road in this town.... It's not the place you really want to be...  It's an old town.  Lots of rentals, but it spreads out.  New developments.  NO FIGS!  We are not in the town.  Not even in the city.  We live high on a hill in county property, but still... NO FIGS!  I look.  I know a fig tree.  Have never seen even one here.

Cept for mine, and they are doing just fine!

Suzi

Suzi,

I've driven a lot between Monrovia and Santa Monica around LA. I think every 5th residential street has at least one fig tree over here.
Are you further north?
