Steve, thanks for looking. I believe I am really going to like these deli cups. I am testing them, the Uline baggies, quart ziplock baggies along with rock wool. These large cups may save a step. We'll see.

Bob, thanks. I am temporarily borrowing my wives 1890 claw foot table. I am putting together a permanent place but not quiet ready. I will have 8 T8 lights and a nice work area

That looks great!  Does it get cold  in your area?  What are you going to do with them in Jan, Feb or when they start putting out shoots?  I am not sure what to do with the cuttings I am receiving.

JoAnn, it can get pretty cold here just like in DFW. Actually our weather is similar to yours just not quiet as hot in the summer. We typically have a couple 100 degree days but mostly
in the 88-95 range. This is what I am planning to do with them in Jan-Mar with some adjustments to the lighting. Hopefully I can keep them healthy.

Hey Mike....that large perlite looks so different from what I'm using.  I think the small stuff compacts too much around the stem causing the seedling to rot. I have lost more than a few that way.

Vince, that is exactly what I had read on the forum. This larger pieces gives more air along with some other benefit I read.

Bobby, I finally got yours rooting. They are in that photo some where.

There is also a huge difference in cost......those small bags of Miracle grow perlite from Lowes $4 a bag and weighs about 2 pounds.  A 16 pound bag of coarse perlite from my local farm supply store $9.99 which is 4 cubic feet.

It looks great. You can see those cuttings are in good hands. Nice light set up , a similar thing has worked well for me to get a jump on the cuttings season.
Great find on the perlite , most of what I find now, even what is labeled as super coarse, needs sifting to get something close to what you have there right out of the bag.
For my cuttings , I've ended up using 80/20 - perlite/potting mix . If I had better quality perlite , I'm sure the 50/50 would work just as well.
You need a fig farm now for all those plants. Maybe: "Uga's fig fields"

Willis, your are correct on the cost factor. The big bag I get is a little pricey but it works out later with the larger particles.

Shana, I am not the long time professional on rooting figs. I have rooted may other plants. If the soil is damp when you place the cutting in, that
is what you want, not wet. Compacted is not good. They also have to have air circulation and the perlite, especially large pieces help with that. If you
tent the container (i.e. plastic baggy or another cup inverted with holes in it) they will have the moisture and air circulation they need. The holes will
help insure not too much humidity.

I also like the name you tagged my fig farm with. Especially if they win the next  two games. LOL

Even the coarse perlite I bought in the 4 cubic foot bag still needs screened and less than half would be what I consider coarse.  It could be the contents settled and a higher proportion of the coarse will be towards the bottom of the bag (if the bagged was shipped upside down) or one will hope.  The stuff I screen out will just be used for the veggie starts so it all works out.
