My Ingound Blk Unknown planted in ground 2nd season

2011 part of fig row

Sal - Sal
your inground looks very lonely in that space, perhaps another dark type fig for company ?

Ya Sal,
How about another one to keep it company?

That's the same one you tried to get me to dig out in that hot hot sun wasn't it?

Looks nice.

BTW, Mine is starting to grow well. Looks like a winner
A true Sals fig!

Mine is also going berzerko.  Definitely a good grower.  The only thing growing better right now are Angelo's Dark Unknown, Saxonfig's unknown Ownesboro (x2) and Morley.  The five of them are even outgrowing trees rooted last year and keeping up with trees rooted two years before.

I cut this one back pretty hard to get some cuttings for friends last year, so no breba. I think I'm not going to touch this year and see what happens
Yes Rafed that is the one I broke my butt getting for you, so take good care of it!!!!! LOL.Did it set any fruit for you yet?
Jason, glad to hear yours is doing well
Martin, I do plan to put a few more in ground. I will update next season what I picked. I hope yours makes it this winter

Sal it will make it this coming winter , its only the first season storage that damages or kills my plants here.
The following seasonal storage i dont recall loseing any.
My other type of Sals did same thing in past but went kaput , then got another and it did same darn thing. It wasn't meant to be i guess.

This one from you will be fine was just looking at it today as i watered everything and its doing well.

I also chuckled when i read  Rafed comment below -
That's the same one you tried to get me to dig out in that hot sun wasn't it?

Did he have a kink in his back that day or something that he cannot dig up a little ole fig tree or did he say in a whiny voice "but that fig tree is huge and its so hot and humid out here"
All in fun..

Sal i wonder what type of fig tree will keep that one company, perhaps Ronde or another dark type.

Martin in all fairness to Rafed, When we put shovel in, red ants came out the one's that bite. So I treated the area and dug out a nice sucker with roots. The hard part was getting through the roots from mother tree, there was a rooting branch that had to be an inch in diameter and a bunch of smaller ones. I gave it to him on next visit.

Ronde will be one VDB and possibly Sal Corleone might be another and Panachee. since these are all in 3 gal pots and I don't have to pot up or dig the hole as big as if they were in 20 gal pots. I might have to start me another Conadria also for ground as I really enjoy size and taste also does well with rain

Sal,

My Black Unknown (in ground and in pot) are both doing well; I lost one in-ground but immediately replaced it with another. I planted one in South Florida at my Mother's house (and prayed), another with a local organic farmer, and shared cuttings with a few members who also have said to have success. Thanks again Sal! As I get updates, I will post.

Martin,

In all fairness Sal is right.

But this was after he made me drink about six or seven cans of beer and who knows how much wine.
