Pete please update once it is producing the figs and if they ripen or drop.
Appreciate.

martin, i'm going to use self watering pot on Pastiliere. i keep reading the reason for fig drop is water stress. maybe constant water supply is what it needs.

Hi,
Pastilliere/rouge de Bordeaux is known as an unifera because it will drop most of the brebas.
It shouldn't drop any fig from the main crop.
I would fertilize more ...

jdsfrance, we'll see. it's been experience of the members growing this variety that they do drop figs, main crop that is. few that does not drop and ripen properly are amazing figs i heard. i'm trying to figure out how to make sure they don't drop. we will see in about 2-3 yrs what happens to the figs that i have.

Pete, I see lots of work with 1 gal pots. Congrats your spring is in. My trees are hibernating. Hope you get help from your
troopers. LOL - I hope you have pints of guinness stout all ready after a satisfying day of work around the plants.

Can you send me your Pastilere? :)

I'm looking for one.

in about 12 months, i'll have some cuttings. Pastiliere grows like a weed.

Congratulations!  I won't even know which plants survived the winter for 7-10 weeks.

Zone envy!

Likewise, mine are still snoozing in the unheated garage too.  I thought about unwrapping my two in ground trees today but then thought better of it as we are supposed to be getting lows down to 21 degrees of so later this week.

well guys, i'll be pulling them back into garage on wed. the weather forecast keeps on changing. as matter of fact, last night was down to 29. i didn't know that.. and neither did my trees.

Mine will be outside the next 2 days/nights as well.  I believe next weekend will be okay outside at night again.
