Hi Grant ,
i always enjoy reading stories about figs and how others care for them in similar climates.
It never a bore the story's.
Thanks for posting that.

Hi Martin,
yes it is nice to read about others growing figs in the colder climates.
encouraging for us newbies to know that it can be done, and get ideas about how to do it.
your posted link was interesting in that it has the section about fig trials in the mountains of Switzerland. and also a section about Sweden.
thankyou for that

Grant yes growing in cold climate can be done ive been doing so for years in containers i would grow inground like relatives did for many years in Chicago but for me to much hassle with all the plants i have and its me only caring for them.
I cheat somewhat as i can awaken them a little earlier than if they were inground which is a big plus for me here in my climate.

That was very an interesting article. You know what i have doing in the last few years? Since i live in Arkansas, the land of rocks, and i live on a slope i have been raking rocks downhill and acumulating it around the fig tree's all along, lots of rocks. My reason was a little different though, so i can get to the fruits easier. Yes mine do not need fertiliser, there roots are everywhere.
