someone wants to join the party

Ok so I bought a tiny Hardy Chicago plant from Richters in August this year was about 9 inches tall when I got it came in a tiny tiny little pot about the size of a ring box. Today when I was watering it I found 5 tiny figs growing, plant is indoors in my office and is about 14 inches tall now.

heres some pics

I had a little hardy chicago a few years back, this is one I would like to get again someday.  Very nice healthy plant pics as you always post nice healthy looking pictures,  I love the tiles on your floor as well. Don't mind me, I am very interested in details.  From other pics I have seen of yours, you have a lovely condo there.  Best luck to you.

Maggie,

I sent you an email about the Hardy Chicago!

Thanks Maggie this plant is at my Office the only pics that were taken  in my condo is with my little Colosanti Italian Fig thats the only one I have at home. The funny thing is I bought 3 hardy chicago plants I gave my uncle the nicer one, then gave my friend the other nice one and kept the uglier one. Well this is the Cinderella story right here this one is the nicest one out of the three now and has grown more than the others and for $5.95 was the best plant I have ever bought.

The pot on the left is the one the plant came in.

Nelson I must say I love reading your posts you have definitely been hit by the fig lighting bolt bug. It seems like every time I read, your office has a new addition or you are waiting for one or looking to acquire one, heck you have been blessed you even raised one up from the dead. Great going and don't stop till you drop.
Best of luck to you
Sal

Thank you Sal I appreciate it, I definately have been hit by the fig lightning bolt and considering that I will be Visiting Adriano this weekend I have a good feeling there will be some new additions to the collection. The HC has 6 pea sized figs on it right now I will let nature take its course not going to interfere seem that I have allot of dual Embryos at the leaf nodes is that normal for HC?

Seems to be a weather/environmental factor. Some years show the affect moe than others, and when it occurs here, usually several varieties are affected in the same year. Not real common, but definitley not abnormal or limited to only one variety.

Be patient I received a VdB in August with FMV and it was very slow in putting out any growth. I fertilized it with MG twice a wk. and not much difference I was almost going to discard and try another. I started adding coffee grinds about 4- 5 times and 3 wks ago it started to take off. went from 10 inches to 3 ft in Short amount of time. I might of put to much lime in the mix or it could of been it's time to grow or maybe it needed that caffeine jolt any way just be patient. I will try to post a pic when the sun rises. My neighbor who's 4 cuttings of my wht unk was behaving the same and he fed his some coffee and his not only grew but put on figs. Probably just coincidence and I don't endorse coffee but that's what I add to my compost which I use in veggie garden

Hi Sal I actually did fertilize my Yugoslavian unknown last week just to see I have used coffee grinds in the past on other plants some of them love it others kicked the bucket. My Colasanti Italian too when I bought it, it looked like it had not been watered in a long time and looked like it was drying up watered it a few days straight then gave it some 10-10-10 fertilizer and its grown to be a really nice looking little plant the last two months.

Heres an update pic taken today of my hardy chicago figs are almost the size or a Quarter.
