I know, it's probably the understatement of the year ;) My little trees in cups and the cuttings still in moss were doing so well!! The operative word here is "were" lol.
I had to leave work early a couple of weeks ago due to Glenn being sick. I had a friend check up on him, she called and said it wasn't pretty - he was not well. So I went home and ended up calling the ambulance. Would you believe they were listening to what Glenn had to say?! He couldn't even sit up without assistance, not talking well, and they were asking him if he wanted to go to the hospital!!! I must have had a look of horror on my face because one of the other men asked me if this was normal for him! NO IT IS NOT NORMAL!!!! Finally, they took him in. He was put on IV antibiotics, they took him in for a CAT scan (?) and chest x-rays, was diagnosed with pneumonia and he slept while they were getting a room ready. Of course before the room was ready he was awake and feeling better and didn't want to stay. REALLY??!! Just what I needed lol.
I took him home, cleaned things up and had to get ready for the new pup. Oh boy is she a pistol! So I have been dealing with Glenn being sick, potty training the new pup, going to puppy training classes, working and....falling asleep in my chair! OMG I've turned into my mother LOL LOL LOL!!!
What does all of this have to do with figs?? Remember the operative word "were" as in the cuttings in moss WERE doing so well? All of the Latarulla I had ended up drying out and dying :( They were rooting slowly but they WERE rooting! I scratched the bark and they were all brown. A few others also perished, but I think I still have some extras in the fridge - come to think of it, I haven't checked on the cuttings in the fridge in a while, I know they are still IN the fridge, just not sure of their condition.
I also lost the Atreano cutting I had - don't know why either. It rooted, was doing well in the cup then dead.
I had some cuttings I put into the 32oz containers because the roots just got away from me. The Desert Kings are doing well, they are throwing suckers up too! I think I lost all of the Italian Honey (different cuttings from the Latarulla but maybe the same? I don't know). And I rooted some of my own LSU Purple - some are doing well, a couple died.
Remember the VDB I had with the rotting roots? It seems to be doing well!! YEAH!!! I left it alone and it pushed out new fresh roots.
So, that's my life getting in the way - by the way, I have barely started working in the garden either. maybe this weekend - crossing my fingers.
