Good luck with all of your fig endeavors.

For the newbs... get ready now. Don't wait until the cuttings arrive.

Welcome Sal. Buona fortuna!

Welcome to the forum, Sal!

Welcome to the forum.  I'm sure you will find lots of information and many sources of figs.  Wait to you see how people go nuts as Jon gets close to publishing the list of cuttings.

Welcome to the forum from the Garden State. Lots of useful and new information always being added by knowledgeable members who aren't afraid to try something new.

Welcome, and good Figging.

Welcome Sal !

Welcome to the forum, Sal ! And, yes, you have been warned -- fig trees can be deeply addictive -- the flavors, the forms of the tree, so much to learn and keep learning.  A wonderful addition to any gardner's canvas...

I will have to ask this question, though.... fig wine?  For some reason that seems - I dunno.   Anyone have experience with making it?  Ive made muscadine wine (too sweet for me) and every year make a batch of elderberry wine (terrific, IMO, even my wife's snobby wine friends like it -- kind of like a Malbec to me), but figs?

When it gets to the time of order how do I contact(Pitagadiego) do he have a website?

http://encantofarms.com/

When the time comes, you've got to be Johnny on the spot! ! Cuttings go fast!

When the time comes, Jon posts a notice here with a link to a list of what is available and how to order.

Welcome Sal, to the best "Fig Forum" on the net" : )

Amen Frank!

Chuck. With Muscatine are you letting it fully finish fermenting. I should be very dry unless you back sweeten. Same with fig. Also i usally have to let it sit for two years in a fermentation bucket. You may have a low alcohol yeast strain which will leave unfermented sugar which makes a sweet wine. Just some info to help in your wine making experience. Richie

I you champagne yeast it has a high alcohol tolerance. Where as a yeast for red wine will find it overwhelming and die out.

No problem. Glad to help.

I still have all of my wine making equipment including many 5 gallon glass bottles, primary fermenters, my press, corker etc.
Locally Corrado's sells crates of wine grapes of many varitites in season.
Maybe I should give this atry again.
The only thing I don't like is the bottling part. I wish there was an easy way to draw wine from a cask or glass bottle without it going bad.

Are you using the auto filler?

No sure what that might be. I fill the bottles with a siphon and a piece of tubing.

They have a auto filler. its a plastic tube with a spring loaded tip that stick out it works buy siphon too. But once set up just put tube in bottle push tip down till ig hits bottom of bottle pushing tip dowm wine comes out as long as its has presure on it it never looses siphen till wines gone. 15.98 new

here is a link to an auto filler   http://www.amazon.com/Learn-To-Brew-Auto-Siphon-3/dp/B000E60JF6

The bottle filling isn't really the issue its the whole process. I would rather draw a glass righ from the 5 gallon bottle but then the air space increases ( oxidation) and ther is increased chance for contamination. ( turns to vinegar)

EBAY is fine if you or someone knows reputable sellers. Also I will need to know which Fig Tree's to start out with.

Also I would prefer buying from forum members to help support the hobby.
