Ok, I've been waiting and waiting for those figs to get ripe and they do not oblige.
Today I took some photos and said good bye to them :(
Some almost made it, they even taste sweet but the texture is not there yet.

That fig was still a cutting last February, so I have no complains. It grew fast and steady, the next year should be awesome! 
The pot is 2 gal, the coin is a quarter. 

Here in our area we go through this sad routine in mid-October removing big fat hard or skinny green soft figs from plants. Those not removed get moldy on the branch.

Hopefully you will have good luck with early ripening (hopefully me too).

This fig has also a nice early large breba, I am sure I will taste some next July.

The trees are without the leaves already. Would the figs ripen on a naked tree?
We have enough heat now but it is a little too late...

I did coat the figs with some olive oil. It helps!
The first 4 or 5 figs ripened right away.
The ones on the photos were oiled as well but didn't finish ripening so I think the tree has given up..

2014, i'm going to place my trees in different location. right front of my south facing wall where it gets sun all day long. hopefully, the trees are old enough to handle the sun and heat beating down on them. need new drip line set up. the one i had worn through the rubber right at the faucet. will have to try to repair it and get additional ones for growing number of trees.

I think the guy is speaking about the leaves from the trunk and leaving 3 or 4 on each branch. At least that makes more sense to me.

removing leaves does quicken the ripening of the fig. made that mistake last yr due to a week of no water on my older trees. drip line failed while i was off camping. figs didn't taste any good. but that might have been due to general suckiness of the weather last yr.
