Souadi

Picked the first Souadi of the season today. It is a Lebanese black fig. I had to fight the bird for it. It tasted excellent... Has a lot more to ripen. Seems early enough, next week will be a nice warm week.

Another one to add to my wish list.  Thanks for sharing the pics.

So that is what I have to look forward to. Very nice.

Will add it to my Wish List...

What a beauty ! Future wish list for sure!  Had this funny visual of Rafed fighting a veloci raptor (sp?) over this fig !!

Beautiful looking fig. Thanks for the picture.

does excellent mean your best tasting? if not, which is best?  this one sure looks nice.

Really nice Bass, thanks for sharing!

Susie, the best tasting fig is always the excellent tasting fig in one's mouth at the time. :)

By excellent I meant that it had a wow factor. A taste that lingers in your mouth and you don't want it to go away. I don't think it's the best fig I've ever had, but one you wish that you had more ripe ones to have more.

So what is the best fig you've ever had?

Outstanding!!!

Great pictures Bass.

And HarveyC, very insightful.

Every year I have memorable figs... My taste buds changed over the years and what was my favorite fig thr one year may not be the second year. I'm sure many of us with different varieties have memorable figs of each season.

Bass, which is your favorite child? ;)

Bass,

Very nice fig !

Francisco

More figs from this variety. It's not your average fig....

Good job Bass, my tree is 6 feet tall this year. Figs are excellent. My tree took a few years before it began to put out some really good ones. I'm happy with my tree.

Great you have one growing. Here's how productive this tree was. It is very colorful.

Yes indeed very nice looking figs and pictures.

thanks for sharing

goss

Bass and Dennis, are either of you growing yours in ground? Just curious if mine would do well in ground here in the deep south.

Mine is still in a pot. I don't see why it wouldn't do well for you.

OMG the colors !!!

Bass I heard the souadi has a "unique" taste, could you elaborate on that. I love the purple color though.

It has sweet, low acid flavor, it reminded me a bit like the hybrid 23 but sweeter. It's a great flavor, but somewhat different than other great tasting figs. It has a flavor on its own I guess.
Bottom line, it's hard to describe. It just tastes good
