Souadi Tree And It's Figs.

This is my Souadi Fig Tree.

I obtained it from a fellow forum member.

It is from Lebanon. Reportedly, the word " Souadi " means black in  Arabic .

Interesting leaf pattern, good grower, with multiple clusters of figs.

The figs are of a medium to small size and are of a pleasing color.

At ripening, they start  a brighish red, turning a deep royal Purple, then finally a dark purple/ blackish color.

The taste is different, not overly sweet like some figs, with  more complex
earthy tones.

In some figs I have had, they have a  " Gamey " " Woody Oak Barrel "  taste.

I understand that may sound strange, but it's an accurate description.

Not a bad thing,  just different from other figs I have tried.

If a fig was said to have an " Acquired Taste " this fig would be it.

Well, the spell is broken, I guess.

Probably hasn't had it long enough!

All joking aside it looks like an excellent fig that at peak should be jet black by the look of the darkest one.

The leaves are very cool looking and unique.

Another nice selection for your collection!

She"s on vacation in Italy.

I'm ( and my figs ) are safe for a couple of weeks.

Souadi or Swadi is a really nice tasty fig. It needs the heat to be in its peak flavor.

I have one....thanks Bass. Mine did fruit this year but this year the weather turn colder than normal. I think mine will fruit and ripen next year.
