Greetings all, I know it's be ages since I posted. I hope you all are well.
The reason I am posting is I was thinking about having a SEFG but I wanted to see if there was any interest and availability for Aug 12th.
If you are interested and available please feel free to note it to this post or drop me a PM.
This would be in Fort Mill, SC

Cool looks like we have a fig gig, I will host this one at my house. I do have a guest room and a pull out sofa for those that need it. There are also plenty of hotels in the area. For those with families who may not be so into figs there is a local pool and Carowinds amusement park is less than a miles from me.

I would love to come but I am attending the NAFEX meeting in Tifton GA on the 13th through the 16th. As of the 14th of this month I am retired so I should be able to make more of these activities. Thank you for hosting it. Maybe in a couple of years I'll host one.

Here are details, Aug 12th 11:30 to 2:30 My address is 154 Lake Pointe Dr, Fort Mill SC 29708 my cell 803-389-0230
My plan is to make some sort of BBQ(most likely brisket-I'm from TX) I 'll ask if people can bring a side or desert.
Bring a fig tree or cutting for the trading game. Feel free to bring cuttings and trees to sell and trade but make sure you keep them separate. I see what I can do about getting someone to come talk trees, otherwise we can just hang out talk figs and be social.

I haven't seen anyone make request yet, so if this is in poor taste let me know. If anyone has a Smith or Colonel Littman's Black Cross for sale or trade let me know.

Thanks

Hey Grant
I don't know if I have anything you want to trade.

In pots now I have Alma, Brunswick, What I think is Brown Turkey from an abandoned house down the road (when the figs on it get ripe I'm going to post pictures so you guys can tell me I'm right or wrong). Also in pots I have another unknown I took cutting from my wife's boss he brought down from his Italian mother in New York.

In the ground now I have RDB, Zingarella and Strawberry Verte.

I'm looking forward to it. I don't yet have many fig cuttings to trade; just a Celeste from Lowes. I'd bring some citrus cuttings but Charleston is under quarantine.

I'm fine with all that, just remember to bring at least one fig or something fig related for the white fig game. I will set aside an area for the fig game and one for people wanting to trade and sell.
I have one house guest for this event, if someone else needs to stay over and doesn't mind a fold out bed let me know.

Image may contain: dog and outdoorFor those of you coming just a heads up I have a very large dog, and he will bark when people ring my bell. He is really sweet and as soon as he sniffs you will stop barking, he's just doing his job. If you are allergic or just can't deal with a really big dog let me know and you can just go to the back of the house without walking thru. He is an indoor puppy.

Gloria,
I'll be bringing some watermelons both red and yellow, and would rather bypass the
dog, so I'll be coming around the back.

Final instructions and information.
I am making Fig BBQ Pork butts, I will also have water and sweet and unsweet tea to drink, if you like other drinks please feel free to bring them. Also feel free to bring side or dessert that would feel would go with the event.
I have one person bringing a Vegetarian option.
As long as the weather holds this will be a backyard type event, I have some lawn chairs but if you have one you like bring it.
We will try to get as many cars as possible in the driveway, please only part on one side of the street, it isn't really wide enough for cars on both sides.
I have a good relationship with my neighbors and want to keep it that way.
Remember to bring something for the fig game (basically like a white elephant game)
I will also set aside an area for those that want to sell and trade.
The event time is from 11:30-2:30, I changed to time to try and give those traveling a long way to get here. If you are coming in the night before and want to come early to help out feel free. (you get better parking that way)

My address again is 154 Lake Pointe Dr Fort Mill, SC 29708
Cell 803-389-0230

right now the head count is at 20+

What is this fig game of which you speak?  :-)
I just found out what a white elephant game is, so are we supposed to bring something fig-related and wrapped?  Not sure how it's supposed to work, but I'd like to play along ;-)

No need to wrap it but just know that your first pick can be taken from you, there is a set limit on how many time something can be taken.. usually two. Each person draws a number from a hat to see who gets to pick in what order. First gets the last option.

Im going to bring some of my doubles and a few of my local Unks if anyone ins interested in trading for any.  Im sure I will have more but this is some of the one gallons I will toss in the car for the trip.

Green Ischia
LSU Purple
Haikel Brunswick

Kure Beach Unk
TI Black Unk

I am going to see if I can grab some TI Black figs to bring for people to sample, I just need to see if there are any that havent been split from the rains we just had.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Gloria, I want to thank you for hosting the festival and all the hard work you put into making it
such a great success. You're the best. I didn't know there were so many friendly, knowledgeable,
and very generous fig people that live within 1-2 hours of each other. I came home a very happy
camper. Food was great too!!
