I am new to the forum and would like to come to the fig gig. I hope to meet new friends and learn more about figs. I caught the fig bug about 5 years ago and have been collecting ever scince.

Setup and Prep time: 11:00AM
Meet and Greet: 11:30AM
Start Time: 12 PM
End Time: 2 PM
We will be inside the club house. It holds 50 people. It has a kitchen, stove, bathrooms, tables and chairs. If you can, bring a covered dish. I can not eat chicken, tomatoes, corn, gluten or ketchup but don't cook to suit my needs, please. Bring a covered dish if you can.

I will have the following already prepared is:

1. Chopped BBQ plain (you can add your own sauce)
2. Smoked Turkey
3. Pound cake
5. Bottled water on ice

Here are some items I need folks to bring:

Potato Salad
Cole Slaw
Baked Beans
Napkins

Dessert
Bread
AND ANY OTHER SIDE DISH


Depending on what figs are ripe on the 21st, here are a few fig appetizers I plan on making:

Drunken Fig Jam
Strawberry Fig Jam
Vanilla Fig Jam

Kicked-up Fig Jam

I wanted to start early and finish early in those traveling would like to visit some of Charlotte attractions: Carowinds, Museums downtown, Discovery Place downtown (great for kids), water rafting, NASCAR Hall of Fame, etc. I'll pick some figs that morning and bring some for everyone to sample. Fig Exchange -- so those who are coming jot down my email address snaglpus @ inbox.com and send me a test message. I will send out one mass email listing to everyone so you will know who else is coming. When you guys email me, send me your fig wish list and tell me what fig trees you plan on bringing.
