Mystery fig 2001 A14 is ripe so I will bring it to fest where we can cut it open and take pictures.

Okay Fig people are just the coolest people, was such a fun time, Hershell and Mike (newnandawg) are just the best!!!We had a blast and photos will follow. We even had a father daughter drop in that saw the Fig Gig sign and love figs so they dropped in....Sharron brought a mystery fig, we all got a taste and looking forward to more someday. We have some excellent cooks!! Alan made some excellent pickles and brownies, had the kids fighting over them... I think we will see some new members on the forum after they got to meet these great people.
Thank everyone y'all made it a wonderful time!!

Thanks Gloria, we had a great time. You did a great job as a hostess and not a bad auctioneer eather. Great food, friends and figs. It was good to meet everyone.

Oh my.  It was wonderful.  Met so many new friends or put faces on the folks I chat with.  Brownies were great.  Full of chocolate goodness.  Gloria did a great job hosting.  I made a tag and am now going shopping to make more of my own.  Will post pictures soon but currently still to stuffed to move.   bbq was fantastic and I went home with left overs which of course I already had some more of.  Something tasty with blueberry, scones, little coconut yummies,. No wonder I can't move.

Glad everyone had a great time. Good to hear some of you folks took a bit of time off your everyday time and enjoyed.

Wish I could have been there.

I would have eaten all the brownies.

Fantastic meeting, the most friendly hosts ever, I am so glad that I stopped by..learned a lot in a short time, and thank you Mike and Hershell for the plants!

We just made it home from the 4.5 hour drive. It was well worth it. First, I would like to thank GRamaley (Gloria) for all her hard work that made the event possible. Also a big high five to her husband for the fantastic BBQ he prepared.
The deserts were also awesome. Hershell is a whoot. Enjoyed meeting the forum members in person and Gloria's neighbors and family.  I would also like to welcome "cafonson" Claudio to the forum. Claudio please take a moment in a
new thread to introduce yourself and tell everyone where you are from, where you live and anything else about your new found hobby. It was also a pleasure to meet
alanmercieca, schaplin, Hershell's wife, Claudio's wife, MariannaMiller and figlandscaper "Dragos."

I hope to see each of you and many others at the next Fig Gig where ever it may be.

Fantastic gathering! Wonderful afternoon in the company of awesome people that share the same passion for the figs. Gloria, thank you very much for taking the lead on this and seeing it done. I've learned a lot of good stuff from people much more experienced. And, Hershell and Mike, thank you once again!

Best

Still full.  Will send out the key lime pie recipe later.  PM me if I forget.

Alan, you are correct on the spelling, Check my name, I don't even spell it the correct way. Thanks Mike for listing the names and I have been described a lot different than that. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and I will be waiting to see who introduces themselves soon.

Here you have from left to right Dragos, Mike's wife Sandy, Mike, Hershell and Hershell's better half with her  back to the camera. IMG_1569.JPG

Thats why there are no more. You and I were talking too much. Just saying

I should have some picture to post later this week.

Don't expect me to hold my breath. I can't talk like that. I know Mike. Just saying. I get that from my young employees lol

Is this sarcasm?...Just checking.  Anyway here are the promised pictures which almost got posted last night but after all the pictures were loaded the connection died.  So here is trying again.

Thanks for taking the time to show more photos, Looks like Gloria had done a great job on planning this event.

Not sarcasm. Just friendly prodding. You did better than I did by far. Thanks.

We had a wonderful time and it was great to meet some of the people with whom I had corresponded over the year and I made some new friends as well. Looking forward to next year's meeting.

Came home with a Sweet George and an Excel, both varieties which were on my wish list, George for this year and Excel for a future year.  All have been up-potted and are looking very happy in their new sun-dappled nursery area. Also came home with a Lattarula to replace the ones I lost over the winter. The concept of fig mortality was driven home by this past year's weather so I am guilty of hoarding my newly grown duplicates....just in case this year is as bad as last year. Hopefully I will be in a position to share a lot more of the varieties which members shared with me this year with others next year. In addition to all the knowledge available through the forum, the opportunity to share varieties not available in your area is one of the nicest things about the forum.
