Southern California Frost Advisory

So tomorrow the frost is suppose to reach the eastern parts of southern California and Southwest parts of Arizona . From what I read the cold air is from Canada. The advisory said to expect up to 5 days of below 30 degree temperatures, rain, and 20 mph winds. I don't know what the farmers in my area are going to do about their crops. We had a frost in 07' and that damaged lots of trees.

I stuffed straw and leaves into lawn bags and put them around the base of the trees. I have lights directed at my in ground avocados, mango's, figs, almonds, and citrus trees. I covered the upper parts of the trees with cloth and tarps. Hope this is enough.

Hard to believe, but we are in this cold blow patch and is very cold here in Seattle, we even got a bit snow shower this evening. Hope it will not be too bad for the food growers.

Really?  Frost in S. Cal?  I had no idea it got that cold!

Hi, Jo-Ann.
We don't have winter temperatures this low, let alone for 5 days in a row. The farmers are at great risk of crop loss if this frost is as they say it will be. Last year we had a mild winter, and Monday we had 80 degree daytime temperatures. So, this is just a sudden act of nature.

I get it - here it's suppose to be in the 50's tomorrow and 70's on Friday then back down to the 50's on Sat and 40's Sun.

I hope the weatherman is wrong out there - I couldn't imagine what a farmers life is like, your livelihood and life is dependent on nature.

Hi, Grasa.
Here's to hoping the frost passes quickly. Take Care.

I really hope the weatherman is wrong Jo-Ann. Crossing my fingers. Hahaha.
