Great post and information on a much lacking topic at times. I hear mixing crushed claim/oyster/muscle shells and or crushed cement block, helps ward off nematodes in ground for those having issues with them in the south.

What a simple but great spreadsheet.  It makes me realize I need to open mine up and update it. Now I need to add a few onto my research list. :)

Mike I'm surprised that Ischia Green was rated so low. It is one of FMD's favorites. You aren't that far from Tallahassee are you? I wonder why the big difference?

Great list! I just wanted to add, however that there are way too many variables In fig growing for definitive conclusions. Even within my own property I see incredible differences in production and quality in the SAME variety. Alma and Green Ischia are perfect examples. The ones planted near the house are 8 or 9 while those in the fig orchard are 5 or 6.
Brunswick is a much maligned cultivar for the South but my tree produced for the first time this year and I would rank it at 9. Next year it might be a 0 if the figs ripen at the wrong time.

Btw, Green Ischia cuttings are yours for the asking, Mike. And thanks for the mention, Charles.
