sphagum moss

Hello. I just go from one question to another.  I noticed in a youtube video what they called sphagum moss was like curly tendrils of moss and fresh looking. What my daughter just brought to me looks like brown peat moss texture but the bag says it's spaghum moss. What type should I use, and if its the curley type is it known by another name?
I'll appreciate any advice,
Soni

Sphagnum moss, live or dried looks like... moss, but bigger. Sphagnum peat moss or what they call milled s. moss are fine dark brown stuff.

Long fiber Sphagnum moss is what you want if you are rooting.

HI Soni, the curly kind sounds right.  I get mine at Lowes - Orchid Moss.  It comes in a compressed brick and is about $5.

I am no expert, but when asked someone what kind should i use
they suggested to use orchid Sphagnum moss, but don't take my word
just yet because i am testing it right now.

Everyone have there own different technique, in my opinion
any sphagnum moss shall do.

Best luck

I like the orchid sp moss from Lowes because it is clean (less twigs) fluffs up nicely after squeezing out the excess water, and doesn't fall apart.  I have used Mosser Lee sp moss and found it to be twiggy, grassy and it doesn't fluff up as nicely as the orchid moss.

I use plastic totes by rubbermaid or sterlite - they work very well for me.

Thank you all, and  thanks for the pictures I definitely have the spaghum peat moss.  Im' going to get the orchid type.

Orchid moss is indeed what you want. Nearly any diy should have it.

If you search on sphagnum you'll find links to better and cheaper stuff than you can get at Lowe's
