Hey guys, long time no...........
Does anyone know please - if a fig splits quite badly at the eye end (sorry, don't recall the correct technical term for that part of the fig anatomy) - does that spell the end of ripening?
Tried a www search - not much joy there. Put a plastic bag around the fig to stop flying insects taking up residence, and fig was only about 3-4 days away from being fully ripe. Variety is Italian Purple if that helps.
Others harvested so far have been fine, and even accidentally discovered that a little over-ripening results in fantastic flavours & levels of sweetness. Texture suffers a little, but that's a trade-off I'm happy to accept.
Thanks,
Costas
