This is exactly the way it was on the tree: dead flat filleted, like a fish.

Not only split fig of the year award i see a leg at 1:00 other leg at 5:00 1 arm at 8:00 and the head at about 10:00 and if you look carefully at the head look for the 2 evil looking eyes a nose and open mouth. Oh and looks like a beerbelly as well featured, Check it out.
John put the darn thing up on Ebay and give it a unique title!

This is exactly what I had meant (on some other post, not necessarily this FF),
of some figs splitting like a 'starfish' on the mother tree...

Wonder what (possibly) makes such a fig to split that far?

OK, I found my post. Though what I saw was not as 'flat',
I do remember it being very darn close!

Actually, this is my new Raspberry Latte, which had shown very little propensity for splitting heretofore. We did have 2-1/2" rain about a week before I discovered this one, but other ones picked thesame day were not split. I had seen some pretty wide splits before but this one was like a pancake.
