Spotted Lebanese Red cutting

This is one of three lebanese red cuttings I rooted this winter.  Two of the three show light and dark green mottled shades in the leaves. No leaf distortion yet, but I assume the seller on ebay forgot to post or warn me that his parent tree had FMV. I have all three trees rooted, all are growing normally but slow, I'll see how this progresses. This was a seller on ebay operating out of Maryland.  I was given two more later in the winter to root from a very reliable source so those I have more trust in.

Thats nothing. Personally I wouldn’t give FMV a second thought unless it’s very severe and limits plant growth or affects the fruit. About 10 years ago I was given a newly rooted cutting from UC Davies. It spent the entire 1st year yellow and about 7 inches tall. Today you wouldn’t even know. Many times you’ll see the first few leaves of a newly rooted cutting mottled or disfigured. They usually grow out of it.

I know, been growing figs for several years, just annoyed at myself more than anything else, the eBay seller commanded high prices knowing  this type was highly sought after and made claims as being clean and disease free.

My Black Madeira from Jon sometimes commands a high price and shows FMV now and then but does not affect performance

The ph is ok and this is the only type that is showing this odd discoloration, but I did place some wood ash on the pots ( which really annoys the gnats!) The cuttings are now all outside and growth has started so I'll see how they progress.  They already have greened up more being in outside sunlight.

Thanks Doug for the info on PH. It will help some of us.
Also high PH can cause the same affects on plants. I have that problem here at may place. My soul PH is around 7.5-8. Some of my plants show the same signs.

The plant is beginning to grow after a week outside and exposure to the sunny days and rain. Actually some indication of figs already, not bad for a 6 month old cutting.

I agree, this is the only type out of many diverse cuttings that has this coloring, but no noted abnormal leaves.  I posted the fig a while back and several folks said FMV, but the jury is still out until I see an issue. The little thing has a fig on it so it has some strength in it, so lets see if it produces the big yellow ones this one is known for!
