Spray Insecticides

Has anyone experienced damage to young cutting leaves from using Raid Flying Insect spray?  Leaves wilting, curling and dying.  Wife thought she was helping.

Well not exactly.  I have experienced a spider mite epidemic this winter, especially in the hoop house (looking back I wished I had just let them go dormant).

I used Neem + Pyrethins, which really knocks the population back for a while, but yes, on the "babies" I have a myriad of leaf problems since.

Good News, most will recover.  I sincerely hope this for you.

Wishing you the best outcome

RAID flying insect spray active ingredients are; d-Phenothrin and  Prallethrin

It also includes other ingredients such as; butane, propane, isbutane, petroleum distillates, sodium nitrite ...

If your fig cuttings are strong enough they should recover.
I would be more worried about children coming in contact with it or potential fire hazard used indoors around hot lights and such.

Dkirtexas,

Are you sure it is the raid and not what your wife was spraying for.......like gnats?  Those little buggers will make cuttings wilt and collapse.

I think the Raid would burn the young leaves.  Hopefully they will recover.

I think this would be a good time to get a lot of new cuttings because she probably feels really bad about spraying the raid. Just a thought. Oportunities lick this don't come too often.

No sign of Fungus Gnats, bad case of moths.  It is not that bad, if all affected die, I still have almost 400 left.  Worst casualty would be the Panache I just bought online.
