Spring is finally here

Spring is finally here in Chicago. I'm hoping to uncover my fig trees within the next few days and upload some photos.
I have Italian white, Sal's Corleone, Peter's Honey, and a couple of unknowns.

Luigi, If you can, check on the average LAST killing frost of Springtime in the Chicago area and then add about 10-15 days to that to let those tender fig trees out for good .It is best to err on the cautious side.  Be ready to snatch them back to a safer, warmer place if temps go below low 40's at night.  Shade at first to acclimate them  to outside sun and gradually move to a little more sun each day.  It will make one sad to see cold damaged leaves shrivel & fall or see a promising breba fig lying in the pot or nearby.  You and your figs enjoy the warm weather now, but be prepared for some more cold blustry weather. This is my experienced opinion from the sunny mid south.

CH is correct here near Chicago weather is still up and down very much so.
Next 6 days will bring 2 -3 of just normal daily temps and tonight and tomorrow night will be below freezing.
Its coming though .

If they are in ground and being protected that way, uncover them now is no problem, I uncovered mine about 3 weeks ago or more and I probably lost most of the brebas but I would have knocked them off in the first place, most of the Italians have now uncovered their trees this week.

Thank you. I may hold off another week. Not this weekend, but the following would work. The Breba pick is delish, I don't want to mess it up.
Thanks again,
Luigi
