Spring is here in N Texas!!

Yeah!!!!

My in ground tree is breaking buds!!  I even saw some figlets on it lol!

Bummer, now I REALLY have to get my tail in high gear to get the garden  - I admit to being very lazy this winter and haven't done a thing with it - haven't pulled up the dead stuff, trim the other dead stuff and prune the living - roses, lavender and a bunch of other things.  Have to move the azaleas, move other stuff and put in raised beds.

Whew!! I am tired just thinking about it !

Hi JoAnn...Sure wish you would send some of that Spring weather here to New Jersey LOL    :)

All my pots have broken bud and new shoots everywhere!  It's so much fun to see the baby brebas!

Living between two houses is crazy, and it will go on for at least two more months.  I hear you about all the work ahead!  It may take several years to conquer that hillside we now own, but you should see the gorgeous blossoms on the peaches, pears, apples and plums!  So beautiful in the sunshine!

I get all these magazines for ideas and some of the gardens are amazing!  Zones dictate what grows, but sometimes we have zone defiance :-)

I'm definitely going to start planting figs in gopher pots with their tops inside hard cloth tubes for protection against voles and gophers.  I discovered there is a small Japanese maple called Waterfall that is so beautiful I might air layer it and put it by the pool waterfall.  I have plans for roses and many other flowers along with all the other fruit and nut trees in addition to the figs.

Good luck with the work ahead!

Yeah. I noticed my plum tree has buds on it today. However, it's supposed to be back in the upper 30's on Sunday and Monday nights. Hopefully that'll be the last time I bring all the pots back into the garage.

Zone envy!

I can feel your excitement, i can't wait for spring to get to NY!

Indian Paintbrushes and Blue Bonnet lupines.

Early budbreak is cool.  Untill it freezes.   Happens here a lot.

May you enjoy continued warm temps.

We have had late freezes before - I don't think this year since it already March 11.  I checked the 10 day forecast and there are just 2 days with the lows in the high 30's!!  Today and next Wednesday.

Now I just have to get my tail in gear to clean up the garden - I have been putting it off all winter ;)

Really? Your so lucky, you will be tasting fruits soon enough. I miss Texas. I lived in New Braunfels, 25 minutes from San Antonio, me and my children (dogs) use to run out to Landa Park all the time. Prepare for BUGS, especially those nasty mosquitoes, fruit flies... critters! "Guadeloupe River"- tubing... I am having memories here, hubby, me and friends would get totally hammered on that river, we had our tubes (that looked like tires) floating ATTACHED with our cooler full of booz- Lol

I am glad spring came for you early

I haven't had the opportunity to go to San Antonio - I heard it is very pretty.  I live just north of Dallas and I really couldn't describe it as a pretty area.  There are pretty things and a few places that are nice but as for saying it is pretty - not really.  But it is home and has been for 20 years, it is affordable compared to where I came from (LI NY), I would never be able to buy a house on LI with the types of positions I have had.  So I am creating my own slice of paradise in my backyard - fig trees, flowers-both annuals and perennials, herbs, veggies and a new puppy to go with it.  All I need now is the white picket fence and 2.3 kids - kinda late for the kids and the picket fence wouldn't work in the neighborhood - so I'll stick to the fig hedge!

Ahh........paradise in my own backyard!!

Oh neato,

I go to the farmers market over at Denton. I visit the "Lavender Sherbet" lady. It's soooo good! Best of luck
