St. Rita and new findings.

here is the St. Rita. this was given to me by very generous forum member. all St. Rita cuttings are growing vigorously with good amount of roots.

i changed my bin set up few weeks ago. the only reason for the change in the set up was to allow longer cuttings to have better chance of growing without hitting the lid. but what i'm finding is, that new set up has clear top which allows whatever small amount of filtered light to get to the leaves.

unfortunately, i only have one set up right now. will be getting another set up next week. the smaller cuttings that were left in old set up with hinged lid are getting longer node interval and lighter colored leaves.

i moved this St. Rita, best growing one in the bunch, to new bin set up. the color of the leaves is improving.

Cute little bugger !

Pete

When did you start rooting theses? Just trying to compare

Looks great Pete.

Nice job Pete, first time I ever heard of the St. Rita. Looks like a nice vigerous little tree.  What I do to green up my leaves is take them out of the box once they have even the smallest leaves showing. And then I place them on the dining room table so they can soak up the morning sunshine that comes in through the two rear windows.  They go from yellowish green to nice dark green within a week to ten days, and put out even more leaves during that time and beyond.  Best of luck with all your trees.

Looks great Pete!

Thanks guys.

Tim,

I started rooting them in baggie back in Nov.. don't remember exact date. The tall cuttings went in to new bin set up about 2 weeks after the shorter ones. I think that was about 3 weeks ago. The ones showing faster growth already had good roots and open bud in the bag.

However, ones with same growth but in new bin set up grew faster. This might be due to what little sun they got, but also this might be due to the fact they are closer to air vent on the floor.

Gotcha. Thanks

I think St. Rita is one of the prettiest figs. :) It's one I wanted from almost the beginning, and now thankfully I have it rooted.
