started the orchard what do yall think

Okay my son and I started to put some of the main trees in the ground. We have double and triple of most of these cultivars and decided to trial a few in the ground for heartiness. I have a few more to put in  and finish mulching out the rows but you can get the idea. Needed to get this done so I can get the next project started (14x20 hoophouse) I will post pictures of that project as it goes along. I have put the following cultivars into the ground this week.
Black Jack
Peters Honey
Dottato
Marseilles VS Black         2 Trees
Stella                                2 Trees
Brown Turkey
Kadotta
Black Mission
Brooklyn White
Sorbello Red
Biello
Bebera Branca
Unknown Egg Harbor
I have other cultivars but only one tree and not ready to trial that one tree and possibly lose it in the winter. I have alot more room to grow with different cultivars as they multiply in my collection...

nice backyard and great trees hope u  enjoy the fruits of your labor!!

Wish I could trade my rocky desert "soil" in for some of yours! It looks like you have a great space. How far apart did you space the trees?

I landed up renting a 14" auger after the 40th hole I dug. Now I have another 60 holes ready for next year. I set up a drip system on the first 100 trees.

Good luck.

Good Job,All son,and grandson!

Thanks all, drip system going in in the spring I have the main feed line run just need to set up the drip line and emitters.
Thanks Herman you are truly a great inspiration. I have to put my wish list together for additional cuttings for next season.

Y'all?  You're in NJ and say, "Y'all?"

Whatever happened to you guys?  ;)

God bless your new orchard and keep everything alive and producing.

Noss  I am a hillbillie at heart my truck is a ford and my tractor is a deer.
You Guys is a new york bleed over to north jersey. Down in South Jersey we are considered hillbillies.. Yes there is a mason dixon line in Jersey.....
There currently is a big controversy over the mtv show jersey shore.. The entire cast is from New York and Jersey folk do not act the way these actors do. The show is giving the common Jersey folk a bad name...

Good job, I hope you don't have mice problem. With the hoop house make sure you monitor it carefully, for mice and temperatures. Keep in mind that they will break dormancy early in the hoophouse, at that point you may need to keep the temperatures above freezing somehow.

Good luck.

Nice job, and best wishes.  Be sure to keep us updated, I'd love to see your progress.  Post pics of the hoop house, and when you do the drip line, I'll ask for details.

Bass I don't believe I have a mice problem but I will be using moth balls in the leaves to try and deter them from my inground plants. I am going to use the hoop house just to get a early start on some cultivars in pots and to start my cuttings and vegetable seeds in.  The potted trees will go into the garage for winter then into the hoop house possibly a few weeks early when the house temps are around 65- 70 degrees.

Udaman I currently have a drip system on my vegetables and my potted plants just need to add to the fig orchard and the fruit orchard all the way in the back. Shoot me an email if you have questions on drip or any irrigation I have done most all of it or I have contacts that have. RHEYCO@comcast.net

Great job!
South Jaysei...
In the future, I may visit you when the trees grow
up and are loaded with fruit (ripe of course!).

Gorgi You are welcome to stop by anytime, At this point I will have another ten trees next year of different varieties to go into the ground. We all know how that will end up I will need that 14 inch auger..HAHA

Job well done! Looking foreward to the progress next year.
It is also nice to see the young ones getting involved. Start them off young and in the right path.

Good luck with your work.

Like my earlier post, the 14" auger still took me a full 6 hrs to drill 60+ holes. They are ready for me next season to put more momma trees!
