"In other fig news, a group dubbed “Figs 4 Fun Foundation” was recently established in San Diego...

And perhaps reps for the foundation will make an appearance at Fig Fest to champion the fig cause. "

Hello all
I'll be bring Some plants that I started this winter and some cuttings.

Ed I have one for you.

Art I have some cuttings for you.
Vito

I'll be there as well , looking forward to meeting you all

I guess that if one is to attend, he/she should be there very EARLY.

I attended once, and I was late - must have missed some good stuff?
However, I did enjoy meeting a new (non FF member; Pete) growing-fig-nut
and also our Ed (EP).

There were plenty of nice fig trees for sale too!

As for me - will I attend this year? - it all depends on my mood and the weather....

Ed i may stop by this year.

I think we should be there around 4 pm, just for fig members to meet and do their trades in day light, it gets dark and windy quickly, we are in the fall not summer any more.
I am looking for nursery pots, 15 , 20, and 25 gallons, any body have extra and want to sell, and going to be in the S.I. Fest PM please.
I am also looking for Tacoma Violet plant. do not have any to trade, but will pay for it if the price is right.
ED should tell us when the best time to be there, he has the most experince with this fest.
Mark

Mark, I might have an extra Tacoma Violet for you.

I'm going to bring some common figs to give out.
LSU Gold
Giant Black German
Some good unknowns white/Dark
Chiappetta Unk.  (Cosenza)
VDB
Desert King

I'd like to give them to forum members, if not I'm going to give them out to the locals.
If anybody is looking for a certain fig let me know. I may have it.

I hope the Belleclare dude is there. I plan on spending some money.

Who wants what?

Containers

Not sure of my schedule yet,
if you guys have an early meet up,
I could possibly stop by with a bunch of empty containers
if anybody needs.

They would be used and dirty/dusty,
sizes would be 1-5 gallon,
and could bring some tree pots as well.

I will be interested in buying a few
5-gallon pots (for potting-up fig trees)
and
tree-pots (to root larger than average fig twigs).

[Edit: I'll take some 15-25 gallon pots too (as a permanent fig container).]

Like I stated I am looking to Buy larger (15-20-25 gallon) pots, I will also need to buy some 5 Gallon .
Mark

I don't want to sell them.

They're free for those who want them.

Sharing some of the containers from my "big score"

I don't think there are any larger containers left,
but I will check.

I too would buy some 15-20-25 gallon pots
Vito

I'm planning on going as long as the weather is good and no bad news comes up.

I'm going to try to get there a couple hours early.

Send me a private message if you want to trade.

The varieties I'm looking for are on my wishlist.

Looking forward to meeting all.

Bump

ATTENTION ALL STATEN ISLAND FIG FEST ATTENDEES!!! LOCATION CHANGE

I just got notified that the Sunday, September 15th Fig Fest has been moved due to some complications with the parks department.  The Fest will now be held at Casa Belvedere The Italian Cultural Foundation at 79 Howard Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10301.  It's in the Grymes Hill section.  Please pass the word to anyone you know who may be thinking of attending.  Thanks!  I hope to see everyone on Sunday.

Vito

Nobody there ?

Stopped by the Fig Fest  ORIGINAL LOCATION at 5:15pm
Was unaware the event location was moved.
Hung around for 20 minutes,
did not see any fig people.

Brought a van full of containers
from 1 gal to 25 gal,
at least 1000 containers in the van to give away.
Nobody to take them.

I want to give a big thanks to a few of our New York members. These guys are top notch people. Vito,Ed(Ejp), and Mark(Lebmark). My wife and I had a great time. Lots of fig trees and fresh figs.
Pete from Belleclaire and his brother put on a nice event. Everybody that attended were so nice and very generous. It was well worth my six and half hour drive.

Shame Jack didn't see the venue change . All those containers.
Hope someone took pics of the event and will post them - Art?

Casa Belvedere is beautiful and the views are also beautiful.  My cousin and I went and had a nice time.  She commented on how many young
people were there interested in figs.  That is a good thing.  We met a very nice woman who makes and sells fig jams.  Also, there was a man near
the driveway to the right of the mansion,  with fig trees and he was so knowledgable and helpful to everyone.  He gave great advise and was so nice to speak with.  I guess Casa Belvedere will be the new home of the fig fest.  Hopefully, we will attend again next year.

It was a beautiful night at a great location over looking the verrazano narrows bridge.  Met a lot of nice people and new friend Art (kubota) and his wife.  Vito came with a van full of unbelievable fig varieties and donated them!  What a man!  Glad to also see his brother Angelo and lebmark.  Valerie that was me to the right of the mansion, thanks for the compliment.  Tasted fig cake, fig jam, fig tarts, figs grilled with gorgonzola cheese and a few other fig related foods.  I have to get started on that fig wine for next years event.  I believe there is a recipe on one of the older posts.
