hi herman,
i have many varieties herman, my italian celentano as i call it,
is almost neck to neck with stella. it is a round dark fig with ridges
with green streaks especially near the tree end it is delicious
and juicy with a more tender skin than stella, but stella is honey sweet
almost candied. i also have sals, hardy chicago, very tasty.
i have a form of very small figs maybe celeste also tasty.
and my friend gave me sicilian white fig which is loaded with un ripe figs
(i dug it up in dec and wintered it in the garage planted it in late april)
my neighbor has the same variety again large and sweet with tender skin.
lattarula was a major producer, but unless cracked and very soft
pretty much overripe, not much taste , like cucumbers.
i've yet to try my desert king, panache and italian cucumber.
some have figs but way too late and they are very young.
any recomendations herman?
