Stella & Negronne = Awesome!!

  • PHD

Picked my first Stella & Negronne today and they were excellent. In particular Stella really impressed with its size and flavor. Both are must haves no question about it! In the picture is Stella, Negronne (bottom) and Hardy Chicago (top)

Wow look at the size of that Stella fig. Looks tasty.

Hi Pete,

2 years ago, I rooted Stella and a VdB in the ground in my propagation area.  This year, I moved VdB (and others) to their more permanent home.  All of the 'Stella' died over the winter.  As this year has gone on, I've been scratching my head more and more about the leaves on VdB.  They don't look like VdB.  I've looked over and over the map of the propagation area trying to determine what else it could be.  The only one I can come up with is Stella even though there were none close to the VdB.  I turned my map upside down to see if I made a mistake while transplanting the tree, but that didn't help me.  Anyway, I suppose I will find out next year when it fruits, and I am super happy either way.  I just wish I knew now so I know which cuttings to ask for.

Congratulations, they both look like excellent figs.

Dang it! Putting it back on my wish list. Had one rooted this Spring but it failed.
