Still-buds?

Hello everybody. Hope your figs are doing well. I have a mission tree that is a few years old and is doing well and has a few side branches even. However, lower down the trunk, I do notice a few buds that stay green and don't leaf out. For example, there's a couple that have been green for two weeks, but they don't budge. On other places, the buds leaf fairly quickly as expected and start branching.

Why does this happen? Are they false buds? My guess is that they will probably just stay put and eventually dry up. Just a weird phenomenon that I happened to notice. Any input would be great. Thank you!

I get that too.  Depending on the time of the year, they may suddenly begin growing, or simply remain stale.  I don't know why it happens though.

Read a post recently that was about making a nick above or below a bud to stimulate budding ... ?

but I forgot to save a link . DOH !

Anyone have a link to that thread ?
thanks
