This morning I saw a bug on my patio table ...Can anyone identify this? The greenbug is the size of a small frog .. 

I quite recently acquired a few fig trees as a hobby.

It looks like a katydid to me. Welcome to the forum.

Without a closer view I can't tell you a lot but I can tell you it is in fact a juvenile Katydid. They are hungry little buggers at that stage but otherwise completely harmless.

Welcome to the forum and it certainly looks like you have a great start variety-wise.

Yep, katydid. They are not uncommon. I am a bit surprised you haven't seen one before, but then I have just been introduced to a hawkmoth known as the cucumber borer that is suppose to be common, too.

I have not seen one before..at first I thought it was a preying mantis...
It's still there sitting on my table. 
As long as it is harmless, I won't let my siamese cat play with Katydid.

   What county? I am in Richland County where are labeled 6b zone, but we have all sorts of sub-climates.  Knox county, just south of us in the Twilight zone.

    Hinckley is to where the buzzards return every spring.  I am in Mansfield. Mount Vernon is the seat of Knox County and I call it the twilight zone, because it is an "island" a half zone colder. Don't know why.

    You are close to some other friendly growers in Willowick and Strongsville. I have a cousin in Orange, right beside you.
