Strawberry and Parasido pics

Now that that pesky chipmunk is gone, I am getting an abundance of figs.  I've got alot of pics to show and just got some time to report.  I've been busy the past few week picking figs, tasting figs, and it has been great!

Some of my green figs have exploded in ripeness, Parasido and Strawberry.  Finally, I got the opportunity to taste them together in a taste test.  And the winner by a tiny bit was Parasido.  My wife says she does not like green figs, but when she saw the drop of honey oozing from one of my Strawberry figs, she had to taste it.  I think she's starting to come around because she loved the taste of Parasido.  She said it was richer in flavor than Strawberry.  I think both are truly awesome!  Enjoy my pics.  cheers!

Bump.

Every time I look at these figs from my Strawberry fig tree and my Paradiso fig tree. It just makes me smile. My Verte figs I got this year did not taste as good as these 2.

I'm drooling!  They look great!

Which cut fruit is which variety?

Wow!!! They look good!!!

Your Verte should be awesome in time.  Some of them need a little age!  And I'm with Bob!  Which is which?

In the top last pic, Strawberry is on the left. Strawberry is also the one that ooze honey from the eye. In the pic of them split, Strawberry is on top. I thought Bass sold me the Strawberry. He did but not this tree. This Strawberry came from Tim in Texas. I still got this tree. Thanks Tim!

dennis,

is that Paradiso, Paradiso Gene/White? if so i love them. mine actually ooze honey when it's just nicely ripen. cutting them open, it's filled with clear honey. lost two of my last ripe Paradiso to wind today. found them on the deck split open with honey leaking out. thought about popping it in my mouth then saw another one next to it with pulp eaten out by some bird. i passed.. now i'm thinking it should have had it. oy..

Wow, they both look beautiful.

Pete, it's just Paradiso. I don't have Paradiso Gene. Paradiso use to be one sought after fig. I guess there are so many figs out there in the world. But Paradiso is another great fig.

Is Strawberry different than Strawberry Verte? Mine was ok. I thought it was too sweet and too many seeds when ripe. I don't like seeds.

Pete, I have had two off my Paradiso so far this fall. Have maybe two more if I keep moving it in and out of the garage. Freeze warning
here tonight then hopefully we have 5-6 days of decent weather. I love that Paradiso. May be my favorite fig so far. Mine has the
honey just as you described.

Hoping this year is equally hot or better than the year we had in 2010!  That year was one of my best years for figs.  Last year was great for my container Strawberry fig too.

Paradiso actually held up great last yr despite of all the rains. i'm looking forward to it.

Pete, thanks to a generous friend, I now have Paradiso (Giovanni).  I am excited about figs this year!

Kewl :)
