Strawberry Verte

I got to taste this Fig this morning! My Wife and I had a fit over it! Very good taste, but no better than Green Isiahi or Adriatic JH, which are 2 of my Favorites now. Some people say GI and SV are the same Fig? Seems My GI grows better than my SV, so I really don't know. The leaves look very similar.......Thanks for Looking  :)

They look really good my cuttings might be successful but i dont know.

Yum

This was one of my favorites this year, Frank.  Taste was really good.  Super sweet, too.  Kids loved 'em.  Still have a few more on the tree.

Nice pics, too!

I like that deep red

GREEN ISCHIA is a fig that is well over looked as a great tasting fig also easy to propagate. Love when the fig has a dull looking ourside and the inside says BAM!!! I wonder if SV & GI ARE THE SAME TOO

SV was one of my favorite also , I have not tried GI yet maybe next year...

How does SV compare to Battaglia? Is the taste similar? Most of my SV figs split with normal watering during the heat wave we had here. My Battaglia are still ripening and none have split so far, so I would guess it's later compared to SV. Battaglia are first year trees and the SV are second year trees.

Beautiful, Adriatic JH and SV are the two green with red Figs I want to get before next season. Looks delicious and you have some of the best photos. I always enjoy your photos/reviews :)

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments! :)

One of the best for two years for me.
Thanks for posting!

I have both, I hope to try some figs off of at least one of them next year.  Looks and sounds like a keeper.

Battaglia, Paradiso, and Strawberry Verte fruit all look and taste similar. The former two have larger fruit.

Frank,

How would you compare JH Adriatic to Strawberry Verte & GI. I know you said JH Adriatic was your best fig this year. Is there a big difference in taste/production?

I got lucky and rooted three strawberry verte trees this year, but have been very interested in JH Adriatic as well. Is it worth having them both?

Yes, they all have differences in the their taste plus they grow a little different. I have Adriatic JH, Green Isiahi, and Strawberry Verte....

I have both Adriatic and JH Adriatic, along with Green Ischia and Strawberry Verte but have not been able to compare any as of today. Next year I should be able to compare all. It has been suggested that Adriatic JH may not be an Adriatic so therefore it will probably taste different. This is a very interesting thread, great members giving their opinion.

My thoughts: SV is a keeper because it will not split, period. That makes it unusual. It is also clearly not GI, which is nonetheless similar. Adriatic JH is far superior in size and flavor but will also split badly I find. It also produces cracks in the skin when ripe, unlike the other two. GI does not have breba really. Adriatic JH does produce breba. They all have nice berry flavor.

Beautiful fig, Frank.  It really looks absolutely delicious.
