Strawberry Verte - Rapid Growth!

I purchased some Strawberry Verte cuttings from Jon on February 13th and received them on February 19th.  Two of the three cuttings have rooted and are leafing out.  One of them has had some pretty rapid growth I thought I'd share.

Here is the cutting at just about 30 days from receiving as a scion:

What's pretty interesting is that, if you look on the other side, there's a second shoot that sprung up from below the "soil line" (actually, a perlite/vermiculite line!) that has already grown almost three inches!

Pretty quick growth for 30 days from a stick of wood! :)

Looks great.  Hopefully you'll get a fig to taste this year or next.

Nice pictures good luck with them...

That's very quick!

Nice job, very nice new growth. Did you do anything different in jump starting this one?

Thanks guys!

I wish I could say I had stumbled upon some special formula, but it appears I just got lucky with this particlular cutting.  The other cuttings started the same way, even the other Strawberry Verte cuttings, have rooted to varying degrees, but have not experienced as rapid growth.

I'm thinking this is because the plant is trying to make the shoot that was below the soil line the "dominant" shoot and directed the majority of the growth hormones there so it could get above the soil and become dominant.

I do expect the original branch to continue to grow and believe I'll end up with two trunks, which I'll be happy with since I would also expect an increased harvest to go with it. :)

Looking great Figaro...that is one beautiful fig tree...good luck.

Very nice.  I'm growing Strawberry Verte from Jon as well but my cuttings aren't nearly as nice as yours.
