Stuewe Rootrainers (Clamshell)

I'm looking for a way to root a lot of cuttings in potting mix instead of sphagnum moss. I was thinking of the Stuewe Rootrainers in the 3" x 2.5" x 10" size. This will give me 16 cuttings per tray. I can drop 1 tray into a clear Rubbermaid bin and stack 5 tall in a closet to root. Once rooted they go in the shade outside. The inverted clear bin works like a greenhouse. As an experiment, anyone want to split this with me? Looks like you get 16 cells (4 books) per tray. With the tray it's about $10.50. Plus shipping. Anyone interested? I'm going to try the same cuttings in a few different potting mixes to see what works best. I was also thinking of breaking down the cells to see if I could use them for air layering. Should work???

I'd like to keep half of them. I would be able to split 80 trays. 1 bin holds 4 trays. So I am offering a total of 20 bins with trays. The price of 1 Tray/Bin combo is $10.50 plus shipping to me and shipping to you. You can take any amount you want in multiples of 4 trays and any # of bins you would like. (Again 1 bin holds 4 trays)

I used these last year for rooting some fig cuttings with very good results.
Bought them from Fedco seeds in Maine. I didn't realize that they were made by Stuewe.
I started the cuttings late , say mid April and put them on the benches with veggie seedlings and watered on the same schedule more or less.
I liked them because with the small soil volume they didn't tend to get too much moisture , the fairly deep cells allowed more of the cutting to be in potting mix.
I even left some in these all season because of lack of bench space to pot them up to larger sizes and they held in good shape for potting this fall.
Well worth a try .
I believe I just used Pro-Mix BX with these.

I am trying to root in them right now, seems to be working good.

Stuewe is out of stock on these. I located 4 cases in British Columbia, Canada. I'm waiting on a shipping quote. It's never easy!
