Success so far

Well - they have made it this far!

Started rooting on Dec 22, 2 weeks in cups (first picture top) for a few and 1 week for the others!

The cup with the roots has been in cup for 2 weeks!

I keep the bin covered by day and open at night, and there is wet paper towel in the bin also.

I am happy;)

Congratulations!  Great results!  I may try that bin thing!

Look at those roots.  Never had anything close to that.  What's your secret???

Agree with omotm!  Nice thick roots!   Mine look a little spindly by comparison.... :(.  But still happy just because they exist!  :)

Nice work!!!! You'll be busy this summer.

Great job!

(Also, depending on the variety of the cutting vigor of roots will be different)

Jennifer

Those roots look quite strong, good job!

LOOKIN GOOD LOOKIN GOOD

Congratulations!  What kind are they?

Thanks everyone!!  It is Qalaat al Madiq from Marius.  I think this was one of the first times I pm'd a member asking for a cutting - and yes I was nervous making that first contact to ask for something.

They rooted in a week - they were the first pictures I posted of rooted cuttings.  I think I cupped them on the 9th day New Years eve I think.  I used Espoma Organic Seed Starter / Perlite 50/50 mixed (by eye).  I watered them in very well when cupped and haven't watered since.  What I like about the clear cups is I can see the moisture on the side of the cup in the spaces of the potting medium.  I uncover them every night when I get home from work or shortly after then cover them sometime before I go to work.

I have actually surprised myself with the restraint I have held when it comes to watering.  Years ago I was an orchid killer, just couldn't keep one alive for more then a couple months - tops.  About a year ago I learned I was actually drowning them with my love, attention and water!! LOL  So the lesson I learned was and still is - Less is more - it applies to many things in life.

Marius, thank you so much for these cuttings - it gave me the confidence to go ahead and just ask!  If the answer is no that's OK - but it could be YES!

And thank you to all of the other members who have gone into trade agreements with me - this really has been a fabulous experience!

Now I hope the others do just as well

Wow- Lucky, lucky, lucky..

My Qaal al Maliq is showing signs, but the twig is being stubborn. I'm so happy for you. Keep it up

Congrats on the asking and the rooting.

Very nice Jo-Ann!  I love seeing fresh roots grow at that stage.
